Atlanta(Georgia) Mass band/Alumni band

 

Is there one? will there be one??....after watching the videos from HUMB vs NOAB battle, I noticed how great it was. Would be nice to throw some more bands like these into the mix....more competition, more battles.....Thoughts, ideas??

    It would be great for Atlanta to form a mass band but I believe it'll never happen. Atlanta is a city of mixed influences.

    mixed influences may not be such a bad thing....it would bring more ideas to the table....u remember what MBC was...

    MBC was one University....that probably was a mold of SWAC and MEAC and ATL culture (no disrespect to MBC)......but an Atlanta All-Star Band would have people from SWAC Bands and MEAC bands and SIAC bands and possibly CIAA & Independent bands...and who would lead? unless the director could find a balance of styles in which to play it might not end up as successful as it sounds...

    then why not follow the style that MBC is??....they werent totally SWACish, but had elements of it...are u saying that alumni from albany, fort valley, savannah st, MBC, clark and morehouse cant form a mass band???

    im not ruling it out....but the thing is that Those schools all have different styles...kinda under the same umbrella, just different rain drops (lol)...

    and the Alumni from Atlanta is so diverse that it might be a conflict of styles....it worked in NO and Houston because they all came from similar styles and backgrounds....

    i understand what u are saying, but i think it is at least worth a shot...lets blend those rain drops into one big ass drop lol...also i would hope one would put aside their "in town" rivalries over different styles and come together as Atlantians(lol) or a Georgian....if we cant put those things aside then a band like this will never work...if there was one, I would be more than willing to play for them...i wouldnt care who came from where

    I wish Jackson had one....but since they don't im secretly hoping Atlanta gets one....even though i am not from here, nor go to school in ATL (FVSU), i do live in Metro ATL so......hey lol

    yea i dont live in ATL either, but i am from Georgia and would like to see Georgia have a mass band with HBCU influence...Jackson would be a nice one
