Band Jamboree 2010

Hello all...I must say that Band Jamboree May 8, 2010 wae exciting and fun...I have to show much love and respect to all of the Band Directors and every STUDENT that played...It takes a lot of work and dedication...To the people that has never been in the band or is no longer affiliated with a high school band, we appreciate the support...Saying positive things is CUTE, but if you have something negative to say, keep it on MUTE...

 

I must say that every band did what they were supposed to do, come out and WOW the crowd!!!!...There are NO winners or losers...this isn't a band competition...It was a fun night for all the schools..Whitehaven, you all represented for Memphis(but stop trying to challenge every band)...Columbia, thanx for stepping up and accepting the challenge from Whitehave and representing Decatur, Ga)...

 

MLK & SWD...two very large bands...I must say you both sound really GREAT...SWD, I LOVED the black outfits...you all came hard...MLK, I think that the QUENNS odance uniforms were nice...very tasteful...You all came and both represented your schools...Job Well Done!!!!!

 

Redan, Columbia, Lithoinia, Avondale, Whitehaven, North Atlanta...job well done...Take a bow..These students worked hard and it payed off....

 

Now to Miller Grove and Stephenson...The performance that everybody was waiting on...I am not bias, because I have no ties to either school, I attend college in Florida...I drove to Atlanta to attend.  Both schools did an EXCELLENT job and they had the crowd participation going and they kept the crowd entertained...

 

Stephenson, cute with the ADDIDAS warm ups and shoes...Creative...Larger band, good sound and you all played with heart...I think that the skit you all performed was one that was similar to the one done last year by Miller Grove, so no cool points there...the dancers were wonderful...You all had a lot of fan base for support and the loud cheers from that support, but loud cheers don't make a winner, it only says that you all have a good support system and that's important....GOOD JOB STEPHENSON...Your recognition is well deserved!!!!!!!

 

Miller Grove...WOW, what can I say other than you all are a smaller band with the BIGGEST sound and Biggest heart, Congratulations for not being intimidated by these big bands...all the bands played "EVERYTHING to me" by Monica, but you all played the originall "SILLY"...Killed everybody...Of all the dance teams, those FABOULOUS FOXXES reign SUPREME...The band sound was phenominal...a lot of bands both big and small can learn a lot from this band and I appreciate how classy you all were and the way you all cheered for other schools...Class Act...loved the skit..your fans represented also and for a band of this size, you all went HAMMMM...

Is seems as if all yall do is WIN!!!!!,,,You all deserve your recognition too

 

To Stephenson and Miller Grove, you all should both take a bow...You all were the most entertaining of all the schools that performed and you all didn't lose the crowd...yeah unfortunately, some of the schools were boring, but I applaud the effort...Thanx to all of you,,,Job Well done!!!!!

    Ok I think the edge went to Stephenson they have a fuller sound because of our woodwind prescense unlike Miller Grove. And as far as the skit. Please look up Stephenson Jamboree 2001. Stephenson was the FIRST high school band in Atlanta to do the whole mascot thing when they took out SWD in 2001. Look it up on youtube. So the originality goes to Stephenson my good friend. Because miller groves skit was similar to the one used by Stephenson. And thats like saying Miller Groves not original because they played SHS signature "Superman". How many bands have done that before.......to many

    actually quite a few bands i've noticed in the past years have taken things from Stephenson's jamboree bouts with SWD including SWD lol Stephenson were the originators of thinkin out of the box on the dance routine and in the early 2000's they got us every year on the dnce routine alone and I'm not ashamed to say it

    Yea I know I feel you. But Good Job with beating MLK. We didnt get to see MLK dance Routine but we saw yalls and from what i've been hearing MLK dance routine wasant all that

    it wasnt lol and the sad part is they had a spy at our practice and knew what we were gonna do they pretty much just stood there and took it

    LOL...I thought I was the only person who noticed that every time a band plays SWD lately they bite off of Stephenson's past performances to try to beat SWD lol. Hell, I guess SWD should feel great because obviously these other schools feel like SWD has only been beaten by ONE band, and in order for them to beat SWD they feel the need to copy that ONE band.

    Miller grove is a PRIME example. Last year when they played SWD, they copied stuff from Stephenson's 2001 and 2003 jamboree bouts with SWD, and this year against Stephenson they essentially copied SWD's 2000 jamboree skit about superman. Originality...it separates the great bands from the good bands!

    IDC about throwback routines...Why the hate??...my post stands true...I have nothing NEGATIVE to say about either band...All the bands performed the routine that was taught...2001, 2003, and now 2010 Jamboree is GONE...As for MILLER GROVE playing "SUPERMAN"...i'm sure it was intended to throw salt in STEPHENSON eyes...they had to do something ...and it all in good fun, since all the schools have done oit before...I don't know if u went to Stephenson or if you're currently a student in the band...stop taking things so seriously, because I haven't read anything where Miller Grove students, band members, or whomever have said anything negative about STEPHENSON...Don't appear to hate, because that will show Miller Grove that they are doing something right..just like everybody hate on SWD...Get over it...it was fun and now it's HISTORY...feeding into it will make STEPHESON look like lame Haters.....focus on 2011...2010 Jamboree is last night news....Remain Classy don't become CLASSLESS....BTW some of the students in STEPHENSON band are CLASSY...try it out

    How is anything that was said classless? It is nothing but the TRUTH ,so how about you stop taking things so seriously and refrain from the personal attacks. And hating? Have you seen/ heard of Stephenson's resume? There is only one DCSS band that rivals Stephenson's accomplishments, so MGHS has a lot more work to do before SHS feels the need to hate on them !

    What are you talking about? I havent said anything negative about Miller Grove. I was replying to the fact that you said we wasant original because of the mascot. I was simply pointing out that we was the first to do it. How was that "Hating" on Miller Grove? I dont hate on anyones band program

    Risk Jon...Miller Grove wasn't even in existance in 2001, so let it go!!!!Stepehnson got their props...Personal ATTACKS??Are u serious, everything posted has been everything but NEGATIVE or Personal...You need to accept the fact that there are bands just as good as STEPHENSON...This is REAL talk...I am not impressed by highschool band resumes...Accept things for what they are...Like I've posted, they all came to do what they were supposed to do...it seems to me that you have the problem accepting that a smaller band stepped up and wasn't intimadated...I never said Stepheson wasn't good...We can go back and forth, but I refuse to entertain small minds neither am I going to explain things to the flesh!!!Post what you want and you can't deny Miller Grove thier props...again, there isn't one post saying Miller Grove is better, but you all are making it into a rival and it shouldn't be...Again and in closing...CONGRATULATIONS MILLER GROVE & STEPHENSON no one got an award, so on to the NEXT one...Peace and for the record, I graduated from SWD and I know what M.G.H.S band members are going thru...Everybody wants to be the best and their is room at the top for us all...but I encourage all students to remain Positive...most of the posts are from ppl that don't even march anyways and they are the ones to always try to print ugly posts

    Decatur Born...Happy to know that you aren't a hater and I wasn't referring to you with this particular post...I apologize if you thought I was directing it to you...I thought that each band did an outstanding job and it's over...and I said if ppl post negative things, then that appear to be a sign of hate...all the bands were good...2010 JAmboree is over and i'm sure that MILLER GROVE band students are getting ready for summer break...both schools performed with heart and I am entitled to my opinion, that a school program of that size can hang with the BIG dogs. way to go MILLER GROVE, but that's not saying that STEPHENSON didn't do their part...Way to go Stephenson...I'm out and yes I Am a A MARCHING RATTLER(SWD ALUMNI), so I don't have any connections to either school...but you can't deny MGHS dedication and heart
