I'm a little late on the situation but wanted to voice my opinion on this hazing B.S.We must all remember that once you get to college you are GROWN.......you are your own man/woman.......if you tell someone dont put their hands on you then they have to respect that........but when you allow it then you must take responsibility for WHAT EVER happens......Men up, heal up and keep it pushing....you made that decision now live with it.......there should have been no reason that anybody else should have known about this.....Its just to many PU$$Y azz mofoz coming thro now a days....If you truly LOVE the program and made the DECISION to go thro EXTRA then becuz of the decision u made you should have did what ever it took to make sure this didnt go public.........Me personally I would have just went to the hospital, told them I was playing tackle football and hurt myself.....end of story.......they would have fixed me up and I would have kept pushing.............You know why????? BECAUSE I MADE THE DECISION TO GO THRO EXTRA........simple as that..........society is making b!tch azz ni99as daily becuz we keep holding GROWN folks hands.........in the REAL WORLD you make your own decision and have to live with them........Furthermore, our directors have this hazing talk with the upperclassman and the freshman every year (to many times if you ask me) which makes it even worse that he/she would make this public....You were warned when you got here and you still made the decision....This is my opinion about the situation and in no way is my comments linked to JSU (just in case)....
You need to be a member of bandhead.org to add comments!
I understand what you're saying but this guy was from jackson and his parents probably are well aware of the previous hazing situations the band has been through. So as soon as their child joins the band hazing is their first concern. Now you call your parents to tell them that you were sent to the hospital in the middle of the night they are not likely to believe anything other than the fact that you were being hazed... no matter what your excuse is. I personally know that my parents would know that i'm full of sh*t. Not saying that he is innocent by any means because he did choose to put himself in that predicament. But anybody who plans to keep their hazing behind closed doors shouldn't let it get to the point of broken bones and hospital visits. Let this be a lesson to the rest of the HBCU band world.
I see what you saying but like I said you are GROWN....why are you calling your mother over something that for one you were warned about and for two you made the decision to participate in........I guess its about how you're raised too cuz my momz would have whopped my azz even worse than they did cuz I let them do the sh!t......but I wouldnt have even called my momz........and I feel you on letting it get to the point of broken bones.........I dont know the facts but getting in the cut should rarely result in a broken collar bone...........he must have been rock bottomed or something... but still it goes back to the point of being grown/a man... cuz thats the point where he has to step up and be a man and say: Look yall going to far
My thing is if you make the decision to go down that road dont hurt the band by making it public (or in this case telling ur mom, who made it public).........If you feel its gonna hurt the band dont do it........yall have to much of a good thing going to let one person F it up

We must all remember that once you get to college you are GROW…
its easy to say your GROWN you make your own decisions...but ther other bandsmen dont make it better..its peer pressure....you a NEW kid....you decide not to do your section....upperclassmen are calling you weak everyday in practice....in the stands distanting u from the section...folks talking bad to just cuz you dont do it...basically you by yourself....cmon nah...its not that easy..i'm sorry if im hurt im telling my Mom...heyal she gon find out anyway..cuz I coulda been DEAD
You're right... being a man you should know what and what not to let somebody do to you. But with a broken bone if you don't have insurance under your name you'd most likely have to call a parent just to even get medical attention unless he wanted to pay out the pocket. For all we know he may not have told his parents he was getting hazed they could've assumed that hazing was the cause and just reported the incident concluding the time of the incident. But its pretty much inevitable at age 17 or 18 when u get a broken bone your parents will find out. The person hurting the band is the person who took it far enough to break a bone. Remind you the reason that we're in trouble cuz nobody is talking. Not even freshmen.
You know what I really hate about folks who tattle tell and dont like to be hazed? Come Sophomore year they be the main ones tryin to give orders and shyt.
Kids these days are not dumb. You know whats up when it comes to HBCU bands, especially if u went to a black high school.
I have more respect for those who dont start at all than for those who start and dont finish becuz of some bullisht.
Man I feel all the things yall are... but its not like it use to be... older bands use to have no choice, but now it doesn't matter... like ask me if im SOP??? HELL NAW! I played my part, I did what I was suppose to do.. and believe it or not, my P rate went sky high cause me and my 2 other homeboys stood the F up... we didn't cross the section and got the same respect.. so nobody can sit here and say its a must to cross... even after we didn't, my nigg went on to be section leader... so my point is.. dat ish is dead! u become a member after band camp!! dumb mf pissed me off!
