  • i cant really say cadence for cadence because it seemed as if FT ran they whole cadence book and pvu only ran a few...both had a nice sound but it was kinda hard to hear PV's snares from across the field..ft snares had alot of power and their sound carried all over the stadium.....neither cymbal section or quint/sixes sextion was that spectacular..i think pvu tenors had the better sound......both bass drum sections was comin with it...tsu bass drums sounded better from across the field and pvu bass drums sounded better from behind the band but i think they were trying to tone it down so they were not louder than the band.... as far as looks ...pv looked better in the stands and everyone looked the same..you couldnt pick any odd looking people out besides one cymbal player.....a few people in tsu's section looked lost at some points....FT's "Come Down" sign was funny
  • Which cymbal player was that?
You know the odd looking one.

  • Not speaking on this battle, but a lot of snare lines don't understand this...your snares might play the greatest material known to man, but it has to make it across the field. Otherwise, it's a waste.

  • well part of that i think would be that them power strokes heads carry a heavier and if you aint playin thru thw drum then its gone sound muddy. with falam heads you get a sharp crispy sound and the bottom should play under that type os snare line. but i feel on that funkie junkie.

  • This battle really was a hands gown W for FT... and The Freshmen were in an uphill battle to begin with, simply because they havent cemented their chemistry as a section... it's THAT obvious!!!

All of them need polishing on their technique, as do the FT members, but it's blatanly obvious with The Freshmen. (Specifically the Sixes).... The PV section should consider using projectors to amplify the snare parts, otherwise the snare parts will continue to be drowned by the bottom, as stated by Funkie Junkie.

FT needs to master to concept of clear pulsation, 90% of the time they were dead accurate, But 90% isn't 100%. At this point, FT has a total package, but as with any drum section, you cant be too clean in sound and appearance. And Im proud to say that they are on the right path to producing great results this year..

    FT- Clear W
PV- L (... and I'd rather not use the excuse that its becuz they are Freshmen. They just have weak chemistry. There are college sections with OLDHEADS that suffer the same from the same disparity.)
  • gooood commentary blazin 20s i saw from a few vids where pv bass line was not on the same handin some spots and a tenor who wasnt paying attention to cut off signals but they are freshman playing a drumline with old head influences still around but yeah they are in a grown mans game now....lol but hopefully they gel real quick after this week they will have to face some of the swac's best....all u crabs take heed and listen to what your superiors are telling yall...yall new to the game take something from each and every comment made about u. and if they aint hatan yall aint doin shit!
