I was told that a few of the band directors didnt want to do it this year. Not sure why especially considering its a fundraiser. Now, bands are participating in Pebblebrook's Band Face-Off which is the same day, May 5.
Its been cancelled. My band (J.O.Johnson) was supposed to be a participant as well as Beaumont Central from Texas. I was hearing about a handful of out of state bands wanting to participate and this year, it would be Georgia vs the out of town bands. I was excited just for that mere fact becuz yes, it has gotten a lil boring...but oh well....Pebblebrook it is now...

I JUST GOT WORD THAT THE JAMBOREE IS CANCELLED. Anyone know why?
Don Roberts is scared to put any dekalb band against an out of state band because he knows it wont end pretty. Dekalb is good when it comes to concert band, probably the best HBCU-based concert programs in the country, but when it comes to marching band all our BD's want to do is play the latest rap song and do a little dance on the field.

YES!..Get on the Field, play some rap tunes and DANCE!...and GET HELICOPTERS..but naw all jokes aside...last year walker and lli came to the atl and just had a crank fest at the end. I mean goodness...most people say the video below was a battle but they both were really blowing at the atl bands leaving out...that wouldnt fly down here in la or texas. Wee Turn and Blow Back, lol!

naw man. see, all the middle schoolers play with the high school for jamboree, and the directors use it to recruit. therefore, none of the little kids know any stand songs, they just know the 4 sets that were prepared. and the rest of the band hasnt played a single stand tune since november, if theyre lucky january.

i live here in ga now but marched for michigan...and ga bands have been up against out of town bands before...and each band have put a variety of music on the field. Aint nothing wrong with bands using helicopters hell at least a band GOT SOMETHING TO TURN HEADS. Ga bands tend to do a basic show yet la bands tendTO REMIND U OF SU SO IT CAN GO GOOD EITHER WAY. And wtf is a crank fest? Just play and have fun. I now know why it was cancelled but it will be told in a few days. But ga bands a few parents didnt want to have it either. But i love the ga bands. They need to bring my old hs band shaw out there.
I kinda agree...Ga bands shows dont bother me...they generally give you a well rounded sound for the most part and the LA bands tend to focus on blowing you out the stadium basically... Last years Jamboree turned out pretty nice imo considering the bad weather and bands having to return home and not perform at all....But yeah, everything will come to surface soon...Maybe a year off will make next years even better and bring some originality to the table
