Now we all know many bands use people of size during their halftime show for prop usage. Does this type of usage come to mind as genuine entertainment or just satire for the audience to crack on during the moments in performance? Nothing against big people or the Honey Bees (A dance line I enjoy watching), but what is your take for the use of FATploitation within the marching band realm?

it gets cheap pop from the crowd....which makes it sound like the crowd likes the band more..... wonder if it would work if u had a bunch of skinny girls out there dancing.......

cheap? no though it may seem like that to some opposing bandsmen. the honeybees have grown into a full organization inside the band for women of size who enjoy dancing. and like it or not, its entertaining. i mean why not? they actually became mainstream with MMH by popular demand in the gump. and wherever we go the ppl luv them. i personally see it as entertainment tho

This tactic is used because some bands can't come up with anything to please the crowd. Plain and Simple. Whoever gets offended over this statement knows it's true.

Gsu has never had big ppl dancing?
To answer the topic, IMO its how they are used......some bands get house just cause big people are out there (trifling)....but others get house cause the big ppl are ACTUALLY DANCING AND LOOKING GOOD. i know here our directors will remove the whole piece if they are not hitting across the board cause they/we refuse to have ppl out there just bn "fat". Ive seen several other bands use big ppl and they were killin.....but ive also sen some tasteless, low/no class things as well.
our thing is that "if you gonna be out front, you need to be dancing better than the rest of the band."
