  • To sum everything up that everything revolves around..... Money and Support. You have to remember most people are on the outside looking in and don't even know half of the struggle. They have principals thats not fully supporting the band programs, different Charter systems that dont want one of their schools affiliated with this school or charter system, and last but not least, if an event is not paying, you will definitely not see a New Orleans band lol.

Only time New Orleans bands see each other is if the school's play each other in football( well, not this year), N.O B.O.T.B maybe a convention/parade, and Mardi Gras season.

  • I was gonna say all that too.  lol but i didnt feel like having to explain it..

  • That pretty much sums it up. Back when I was in a NO band, our focus wasn't really on matching up with too many out of town bands (definitely not because of fear).

Now that I am in a band that's not in NO, I've observed that one difference is, like he said, money and support.
  • mane dats everywhere nobody wants to support band programs
  • yeah N.O. bands really dont worry about battles either because they come often on the streets lol
  • i here u on that man everyone worry about sports n not music. they just dont no music will b n there lives more then sports

i think ima speak for the BR AND BANDS TOWARDS THE WEST OF BR...WHY DONT NEW ORLEANS BANDS COME OUT…
I THINK THEY SHOULD COME OUT MORE CAUSE IT WOULD BE NICE TO SEE THEM
  • Other bands have the same issues. Just say no one, well very few,  want to get out and do the "work" necessary to travel.

  • My auntie told me that back in the days, New Orleans schools required you to learn to play a instrument in music class. You had no choice!! My mama even picked up the clarinet, and my dad played trumpet. That is how great support of the band was back in the days, which produced the great bands of  the 70's and 80's.
  • Y'all are definitely not catching the drift and taking this the wrong way.
