Trombone King, we will not embaress louisiana! If anything we will represent it well. Its bad enough that everyone hates grambling, we don't need anymore negative things said about us. Just be supportive, but I forgot, nobody cares about you if you don't go to the all mighty Southern. Bullsh*t! Yeah me might not have the best sound or the biggest numbers, but we goin! So just deal wit it!
As a proud Grambinite, I couldn't be happier to see the World Famed travel to DC. I think most of us knew that Grambling would be invited. It's truly an honor, and as someone stated earlier, this isn't our first invitation. Everyone knows that Grambling is truly the nation's most beloved marching band.
The only time we're left to doubt our capabilities is when we are involved in the heated battle between SU. After this year's Battle of Bands, we needed this to reassure the fact that we are one of the best in this business, and it doesn't matter what the people who attend BoB thinks, (which most have never set foot on a college campus, let alone Grambling, or attended an even other than BoB) we are still America's...and Baracks favorite!

i don't think there is anthing wrong with them going. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to hear and know GSU not the dominant band of the early 90's that they are still reeping the benefits from today. I think the parade is a big part of history and im glad that they are going. I also understand why a bandsmen from a band that does sound better than gsu would wonder why gsu before su. The only thing is GSU pretty much the most known band, and people don't invite them because they are the best band at that particular time...its more because there alum set a foundation, that to this day can't be touched. It aint like Obama went to the Bayou, and decided who was the better band. Just because they going doesn't make them better than anybody, but either way its a big part of history and GSU will be representing! Big Ups On That GSU. I ain't mad at yall or your history because unlike a lot of people on here i remember them days when everybody who was in band wanted to go to GSU....only until times and bands changed! What would you think if no band from the swac was selected. I mean they could've gave all the spots to a bunch of Corp. Style bands like Ohio st., univ. of alabama, etc. And i know anyone on here not gone argue that the few bands i mentioned sound and present themselves better than most if not all HBCU BANDS. So be happy because technically HBCU bands aren't there first options, im sure. Obama dont want to hear neck!lol!! He also don't want to hear a BLACK band disgrace good music, after hearing another band like OSU play the same thing!
The only reason they going is because SU got all the bad press after the beating up thing after the Classic. Thats what i heard. I sure hope GSU do go because Louisiana run the South and we need to show that. Im glad St.Aug is going to represent us 2

See Trombone King there you go again, its sad that you cant be happy for us. Like trumpetman said, atleast they picked a band from Louisiana, in which they didn't have too. I bet if no band got picked you wouldnt have anything to say but the typical topic of "who's going to the honda"! Call us what you want but the fact of the matter is WE GOING SO GET OVER IT! Now I know your probably gone comment back and we gone have this same old long drown out discussion, the fact of the matter is that we were picked. If you wanted SU to go so bad you should have told then not to be putting +!@#$ s in the hospital and sh*t! But thats the band you look up too! And far as the dancing, the last time I check GSU danced and played at the same time and doesn't put their horns down to do dances steps like SU (no offence to any SU band members) but it takes more energy and skill to do that! Now if your the type that likes over aggressive playing that causes the audience to have to figure out the name of songs half way into them, then thats YOUR preference. Just remember that they didn't have to pick a band from Louisiana, but they picked us so dont hate!

Wow, what's up with all of these so called college students, who can't spell? That's probably the bigger issue, as opposed to who's going to DC in a few weeks. First of all, yes, I am a very PROUD Grambling GRADUATE. In addition, regardless of the hazing incident, who really believes that SU would have been invited? As far as the comment about Grambling being the world shamed, and not being a band; that's a bunch of foolishness. I just really hope that you all don't consider yourselves to be the standard of musicianship. The jumbo-trons tell it all, you've got folks blowing horns with all of their might, just to produce a sound of loudness, and brashness. In addition to band directors who clearly seek out brass instrument players, as opposed to a balanced number of woodwinds. It's not rocket science, and anyone who knows music, knows that 40 plus trumpets, as opposed to 20 or 25 with little woodwind would produce the "loudness" that SU relies on for their so-called showmanship. Interestingly enough, or sadly enough Mr. Jackson can't even change or alter any of this for fear of alumni, and administration reading him the riot act.
The shows are predictable, and even a bit boring...year after year, oooh but the sound! Well, I guess if that's all you have to offer. Sure can't get you to DC, now can it? Or overseas? Or Rosebowl? Or movies...but I forgot, Drumnline was about SU. Right! Denial---
We do have a rich history of great bands, but if SU is so good...change the history. Get to the point where you're the band the nation calls on. It's called self-reflection. IF SU is sooooooo good, why aren't you going to DC? Forget history and Grambling's legacy. Why can't you compete beyond Louisiana? Beyond New Orleans and Baton Rouge? hmmmmmmmmmm
