Don't select your collegiate band just for the band. Grambling is looking for bright musicians that aren't scared of hard work. Don't knock the program if you haven't tried it and because some of your buddies hate it. The University has so much to offer and the band pays nice to help you with your education costs. In these days and times money is very essential for college education. The goal for GSU Band ultimately is to build the numbers to 400 members as stated by Dr. Edwin Thomas, Assistant Director of Bands at an interview at Bayou Classic. There is more than band info on the video, the video gives you links concerning academics, housing etc.BTW, Ask yourself, Am i'm good enough to make a big difference in someone's program or do I just do the typical thing, follow the crowd and just be a small fish in a big pond? That's how i always thought when i approach things.

Most folks with high student loan debts simply took out too big of loans. If your "refund" is enough to buy cars, accessories, go on trips etc... Do anything and everything besides school, then you're taking out too many loans.

I never had to take out any loans. My pell grant, band scholarship, academic scholarship and having a family member that attended Grambling, i think it's called a Heritage Scholarship or something, (that is a scholarship in itself through the university: took care of everything i needed and i always got nice refunds back). Many people choose college for the wrong reasons and particularly people marching for bands, they go to college first for the band then that band doesn't care of them financially. They also didn't take their education serious in high school to get an academic scholly, which isn't very hard to get. One thing i can honestly say about Grambling is if you receive a band scholarship/out of fee waiver you will get what you were awarded. The only way you can lose your waiver and/or scholarship is falling under 12 hours, under a 2.0 and the amount of classed passed must equal to 12 hours or more. Most black people don't take the time and research for free money: it's so many people that i helped that attend Grambling now and didn't have to get one loan, i referred them to this site and they found a scholarship that they could get and they also found other websites. Check out this particular link:
http://www.100bmc.org/Scholarships.htmBTW, I was referred to this site by my Financial Aid Counselor at Grambling, most financial aid counselors don't do that they just tell peeps to get loans. True some have to get loans some i'm not knocking anyone but everyone's situation is different. That's their business on what they get and they are the one's that are going to pay it back. The new President of GSU is on his job and he is making sure the Financial Aid Counselors are helping GSU students.
