Well parade season has come and gone. Now since we have seen and heard every band in the city, I am curious to know what are some people's final thoughts/"rankings" of high school band programs in the city. This post is directed more towards OLD HEADS and people who have GRADUATED from high school.

All in All I think it was a great parade season. The best I've seen in a while. I like the direction that our bands are going in and all we can do from here is go up. I won't go into rankings but the best bands to me were St. Aug, Walker, Karr, McMain, and Roots. No disrespect to the other schools but these bands stood out more than others. To the directors, keep up the good work and keep pushing these kids so we can achieve greatness in the city again. Without you all there wouldn't be a DaEdge1 Productions, so I thank you all for a great parade season.
Some of those schools cut the band program. I'd rather a couple of good bands than a large variety of small poo ones though. That was what we were dealing with immediately after Katrina. It's about that quality, not that quantity. Each year the bands are getting better and better though through solid feeder schools at the lower levels and the killer mentality back at the high school level. We're still working the kinks out but we finally starting to get back right.

I think the city is heading no where but up We might not have the band depth we had pre-katrina where we had a good 10-12 legit bands but we have a good 6 right now.St.Aug is really back finally ,Walker is the truth ,McMain , Karr and,Carver were very impressive EXCELLENT (im hoping all 3 of these bands size increase next year ) The Roots bringing that heat producing good talent for the high school level.Only bands im disappointed in are 35 and Easton .Its time for Jeff to leave 35 they dont wont dude over there no more, and ever since Brooks left Easton they have been going down hill each year, other than this upcoming football season is looking very competitive with these bands.

I saw the clips. I am glad that we have many kids still participating in music though still not enough. I am glad that the directors are committed to the programs and the city. I am still not satisfied with the quality of music from damn near all of the programs. I love cranking but many of these kids think they are cranking when nothing is coming out of their horns but distortion. You have to learn how to play with a good tone first, volume will eventually come. You can't put the carriage before the horse and expect to go anywhere. In order of importance, Tonality, Skill ( playing challenging music), Range, then Volume.
st aug walker mcmain karr carver
