  • SWAGG......LMAO....smh
  • No one's gonna answer?? LOL

Musical integrity comes 1st in EVERYTHING we (Tennessee State) do. We don't simplify arrangements (I call it "dumbing down") at all, and I love Mr. Sexton's arrangements for that reason. If the other band's crowd can't understand that, that's their problem. Ours does. It's just icing on the cake that 90% of what we play gets out crowd crunk as f%^k LOL

    With that said...

    Field:
Precision music, marching and dancing uniformity and integrity
    Energy
    Tradition
    Applause

    Stands:
    Musical Integrity
    Crowd appeal
"Energy"/power (our belief is that if EVERYONE plays what's written on the paper properly, "power" will take care of itself)
  • Field:

    1. Precision
    2. Energy- High Knee Lift, Jaguar Rock, Kicking on 8. Basically, high energy is the SU-way of doing things.
    3. Tradition- this actually kind of mixes in with energy. All of our traditional things that we do for our field shows requires a high amount of energy
    4. Crowd Appeal

    Stands:

    1. Musical Integrity
    2. Energy/Power
3.Crowd Appeal-the crowd typically likes what we play anyway.
  • Basically what TClef2 said and consistently executing that everytime but they also must have the triple Ds DISIPLINE DEDICATION AND DESIRE and they gotta know how 2 carry theirselves whether theyre performing or not!!!!

  • Ummm.....my original post was simply a description of the choices lol....that wasnt my placement of priorities......

Musical Integrity and Precision are the top priority.

I dont care what you do.......if the music isnt right and precision is absent, you will NEVER be viewed as a great band. You can do coonish things to get house, but thats all you will ever amount to.

Look at DCI.......they can do a Mickey Mouse show and will still get house cause its sounds and looks great.

"Its not what you do, but HOW you do what you do that makes you great. You can levitate off the field, turn in a circle and vanish into a poof of smoke....if its not together and/or looks slaw, you STILL not gon get house."
  • Yeah, I knew that, but the others.....
  • field: precision,energy, musicianship

    stands: musicianship, precision, energy
