  • When comparing the decades from the clips that I have seen, the 90's were more aggressive while the 2000's played cleaner, had better repertoire, and drilled better overall. I won't rank the 90's bands because I didn't really start watching bands until the 2000's, and it wouldn't be fair to judge those bands by clips.

    2000's Rankings Top 5

    1. 2008-Great, diverse repertoire. Great balance, and had a much more cleaner sound than the majority of the previous editions of SU's band. Great drilling band. I think people will underate this band because it didn't have the aggression as some of the previous editions, but the band still had a powerful sound while maintaining a good ensemble sound. While this band was much smaller than the 06 and 07 editions, this band still had a comparable sound volume wise.

    2. 2005-Good repertoire. Good drilling band. Nice clean and powerful sound. 2005 and 2008 bands had some similarities.

    3. 2006- This was probably one of the best drilling bands that Southern had during the 90's, 2000's time period. Had a lot of power with a good repertoire. The reason why this band isn't higher is because it just couldn't much the balanced sound of the 2005 and 2008 editions.

    4. 2004- Good repertoire. Great balance and a clean powerful sound.

    5. 2007- Great repertoire and excellent drilling band. This band would have been much higher if the trumpet section played cleaner. Despite that, the band still had a good sound with balance, but there were a few times where a few trumpets kind of got out of control.

  • I marched 90-93(Bass drum-KKPsi Spr.91).90 was voted #1 in the country over all colleges by USA Today & we waxed every school we faced that year..Look at the video footage. We had over 150 songs in our catalog from Roy Johnson,Eric Baskin,Carnell Knighten,Frank Williams(Band Captain90),Lesean Garrett, etc. We were off the meat rack in 90.Do yo research...

  • do yo research..90-93 was the shit...We had a catalog out of this world..The majority of the tunes they still play now came from that era..U don't know what you r talking about..
