So the band season is over, and people really wanna know WHO stands WHERE......MY OPINION NO SMACK INTENDED, A-1 logic by evidence of CRITICAL observation of each.
1. Txsu - Overall best Balanced/Blending and numbers are used to the best degree for the bands tonality. Clarity in arrangements also is a deciphering factor for getting the #1 spot.
2. Su- Musically and still the most aggressive band we've came across, and we were the better band that day, which put us at #1. Su needs to concentrate on on execution and cuttoffs............makes a difference when your considering the top 5 bands. Arrangements were here and there, and more so because of the execution of. Overall great job to the Su staff. Keep it poppin'!
3. Jsu - This band gets this spot only because of the intensity and the potential characteristic sound that they are trying to achieve. Jsu has much potential to be the powerhouse band, but the arrangements must grow and change for the better. Blending here is a problem. If each section played full and not over the instruments potential max, you would get the true balanced sound that Jsu has, but yall gotta do better with THOSE #'s. Work critically on Drills!
4. ASU/UAPB - Two bands that can blend properly, but through tough arrangements with parts that dont stylistically complement the song itself hinders each bands offset potential. Just speakin from what i observed. Arrangements need to phrase better and still clarify the parts. Range is to be questioned as well.......this takes away from each. Uapb needs more instant attention getting ideas, while Asu needs Dynamic Contrast, as well as Jsu....SU and TXSU distinguished dynamic contrast, which automatically puts them at the top 2 BY OFFSET.
5. AAMU- If you took this bands arrangements and altered each to blend for the instruments range it could very well be moved up pass Jsu. nice sound for size, but the arrangements by key dont support each instruments range, putting them here at #5.
6.PV- PV was PV. The tonality took more shape throughout the season, but the arrangements were not. The standards can stop now, and until newer and fuller arrangements that complement PV's dark tone of style it wont get the best offset, trust me. Too much simplicity. Drills needs rectification(reform and ultimate execution). Dance routines save the show.
7.Alcorn- Each game was a different Al-corn band......Try to be more consistent on execution and arrangements could be more modern when going against other giants like Jsu, Su, and Txsu.(Better execution regardless each game)
8. Grambling- Sounded better blending wise, but the arrangements didnt imply the improvement of blending GSU's band, which also hindered is fullest potential. better use of instrumentation for IMPACT......something gsu dont have across the field because of that.
9. Valley- Better than last year, but not enough to move from the last spot.......keep workin on balancing out that sound, it sound very potential, but early in process....KEEP GOING.
