Songs that need to be put back in the book...
since we have picked the songs that should be retired, what songs should be put back in there?
  • LMAO. We have that same problem. People try to just rearrange old arrangements. Stupid, Stupid, Stupid. Just play what's on the paper, play it well and everything will take care of itself. It's not hard to sound good so i don't see why some individuals want to do their own thing and sacrifice the band's sound.
  • yup...some people are too focused on being heard

Truthfully mayne....its not even about tryna be heard....sometimes people go in the library stealn music or the paper is unreadable....

I know when we brought back Jam in 2003, there were parts missing and Dr. Magruder had to rewrite parts.....

other times, the band doesn't fit the arrangement....if the harmony is trumpet heavy and you got some poo trumpets, you gotta rearrange it in order to make it sound better

  • B-CU - If Only You Knew, I Can't Stop Loving You, All The Things (Yo Man Won't Do)
  • Yes you do man. Grambling's instrumentation is very different from the past editions in the 80's and 90's. Though majority of Gramblings' bands had a dark sound and catered to the low brass the current editions have more mellos, btones and less trumpets right now so the arrangements needs to fit the band and the band will sound a whole lot better.
