I've always wondered this but why does su put their band I'm the middle of the announcers box side. Then puts the other band on the other side of the stadium to the very far left. This to me,has never made since most schools put the band directly in front of them like Jackson st, Alcorn st, pvu (cotton bowl) in Dallas, even txsu puts them right in front of them. Why doesn't su put the other bands in front of them?I wouldn't mind this too much if it weren't for how unfair this is its so annoying watching videos where it is easy to be bias just by the location of the camera. Do any of you guys know why this is? Will su change the seating in the near future?

This has literally been discussed literally 67,923 times, literally, even as recently as last week lol.
So once you understand that SU does NOT have a "visitors side of the stadium", and understand that SU fans are on BOTH sides of the stadium, and then understand that the "VISITORS SECTION" is not gonna get premium seating in ANY collegiate stadium on the face of this earth, then you can really start to understand how dumb this thread is.
PLEASE CLOSE IT AND SPARE YOURSELF ANY FURTHER EMBARRASSMENT FROM MANY OF US WHO ARE SO TIRED OF DISCUSSING IT.

As the aforementioned points have mentioned, SU is the ONLY SWAC school to NOT have a visitors SIDE of the stadium, therefore to move a visiting band AND its bandheads/fans to the center, and PUSH SU season tickets holders further out to the corners of the stadium will NEVER happen in a million years, EVER! lol.
P.S. You really dont need to have tenure on this site to know that SU's stadium setup with their FANS is just a lil bit different from other schools, whose VISITING fans and bands could sit wherever they want on the VISITORS side of the stadium...Come on na! lol

Moving the away band along the 20 in front of the Jukebox isn't happening.
The only way you'll ever see the Jukebox across from the away band is if athletics forces them to to section 1. That has been proposed many times and would happen if there was money to be made. If Southern had a decent football team, the Jukebox would be in that corner across from the away band.
If athletics had their way, the bands would sit on the bus until halftime.
ATHLETICS is NOT the department that governs where the band sits. That comes from much higher up.
The University AND the Athletics Department are VERY aware of the band's draw and attraction at football games. SU has been packing 30k in that stadium for Homecoming and JSU games for some time now, and in the 80's. 90's. and early 2000's, was packing 20k in the stadium EVERY GAME.
So trust me, if they wanted to move the band to be able to make a greater profit on ticket sales, it wouldve been done 10-30 years ago.
The only thing that was proposed to move was the "student section", which has been moved to the corner/left side of the Jukebox (in which is was previously along the 50 yard line).

If I were the band director of a visiting band I just wouldn't show up.
