I heard from some other directors that this was Sunset High School's first Division 1 rating in about 30 years and probably their first trip to the Texas UIL Area Marching Contest.
which bands are show?
Kimball just does it all.. I need to see south oak cliff
Showbands: Carter, Roosevelt, Kimball, Pinkston, Lancaster, S.O.C., Wilmer-Hutchins
i believe that in UIL comps . showstyle bands are unfairly judged.. like they go in with expectancy to fall short
How is it unfair?

Region 10, where I went to school back in the day, the two show-style bands Beaumont Central received a 3-3-4 and Beaumont Ozen received a 3-3-2.
All of Region 10s performances from this past Saturday are on youtube. Unforunately, Ozen's video does not have audio. I remember them doing a Lion King show.
Isn't Sunset a show-style band? From what i've seen on their performance, it has a lot of corps-style elements but they still high-step march. They had a very decent sound.

What i'm saying is that it seems as though even the best drilling show style bands in tx would fall short at UIL competitions
