  • Carter you can tell you young the nighttime games were allways hyper to me but then again I never played in november.....ducks out the room.....comes back in ....to have a 2:30 game the parade will have to be moved up to like 8 sorta like the format for MCC so the bands can hit golden chorale...ducks back out
  • the time is up in the air but last year bruh by time the 5th came around it was cold as hell out there.i doubt if the parade time is changed also because of the weather.but i do understand your point though maybe something more like a 4 p.m. kickoff would be more logical

  • Official says Gulf Coast Classic might not be played in Mobile this year

Organizers say they could move the game out of Mobile this year.
MOBILE, Ala. -- Kickoff for the Gulf Coast Classic is less than two months away, but the game has no contract with Ladd-Peebles Stadium and an official from one of the schools said he is considering options other than playing in Mobile.

Since 1974, the Classic had been an Alabama State home game in Mobile, as the Hornets left the Cramton Bowl in Montgomery once a year for the larger Ladd-Peebles and a devoted alumni base.

Last year, organizers tried to convert the game into a true classic, featuring the same two teams every year.

To do so, they promised Southern $250,000 and Alabama State $225,000. Both schools are historically black colleges that play in the Southwestern Athletic Conference.

Organizers asked the city of Mobile to increase its contribution to the game from $40,000 to $450,000.

The Mobile City Council gave the game $275,000.

Classic organizers were unable to meet the financial obligations they made to the schools, and city officials were disappointed in the low turnout for the game. On Tuesday, the City Council cut the game’s funding to $47,500 for this year.

  • ONCE AGAIN THE GULF COAST CLASSIC SU VS. ASU IS ON FOR NOV. 14TH @ 2:30 P.M. AT LADD PEEBLES STADIUM IN MOBILE,AL. BEING SPONSORED BY COMMONWEALTH NATIONAL BANK .TICKETS ARE AVAILABLE ONLINE AT TICKETMASTER.COM
  • Last I heard from Baton Rouge Advocate Newspaper is that the game will be played in Mobile, AL on Nov. 14th but it won't be called the Gulf Coast Classic due to money issues. This will be Alabama State home game. After this year is up, SU will be playing them back at home. You know this is the SWAC and games are subject to change for next year.
