Tired of the same old stuff

I was just looking at some past halftime show and was bored to death of it mostly because it feels like i have seen it before. whether i seen it live or from home it just seems the same to me. what do you not want to see from the bands halftime wise in 2010 and 5th, but mostly halftime, the start of a BRAND NEW DECADE, and what do you want to see or hear from the bands this year.

 

By the way Im not discrediting any band i now exactly how hard it is to put on a great field show. So if you are offended by this thread im truly sorry.

    Nothing is New under the son, everything will be a modified version of a classic show next year..

    I agree with what Book said. However, I tend to venture outside of the HBSU realm from time to time. There are lots of thingd out there just itching to be tried. Take NCCU for instance. And folks hate on them for being innovative. Still, we get stuck in our way and can become quite stubborn in them.

    I'd like to see some new different concepts also.

    i wanna see drum majors doing back bends on lions and dancers dancing butt naked to concert music with stealth bombers flying above while a man in a big bird costume passes out free t-shirts with tiger woods face on them.

    that would be unique and new.

    yeah everything do not have to be the same old drum majors routine, march on, one drill, and dance routine. that stuff gets boring after a while. You are so right about there being stuff that can be tried so much, but yet if we keep doing the same stuff dont be surprise when our fans start walking out on us like they do those corp bands.

    I've noticed this a long time ago. I have so many ideas, especially for my own band, that I would like to see implemented. I havent seen an HBCU band step outside the box in a while. Thats why I made a comment in the thread discussing PV going corps style.

    i'd like to see a drill...that would get house...swac fans dont really appreciate diamonds and illusions as much...and you really dont get any house unless you spellin somethin out...

    ...a non-word design on the field that gets house from todays crowd would be perfect in my eyes

    U have to have been a bandhead for sum time to have felt this truly at heart. I've been in the marchin game since 91(on a horn since 83) and have just gotten kinda bored with the same ole. Like the same order of the show!(which I lived by and love) Entrance, fanfare(optional), drill, conversion, drill, concert formation and tune..... then dance! n I'm sick of seeing dance routines(but understand their relevance). U can mix it up and juggle the order..like feature the dancin girls first, then the drill etc, but then when u look at it there's no better way than the traditional one. I feel as time goes on sumone with a birght idea will get their time and bring sumn new and innovative to the game.

    P.s. But at the same time it's like pro sports...we dont want to change those games do we! If it aint broke......

    I understand what you are saying, but its like if no one is getting no entertainment then we look like a bunch of kids just hopping around(some more than others).lol But seriously the to change is now and the halftimes are broke and need fixing. I do like what scsu do on the field because the actually mix it up and the crowd enjoys it. but this same old low energy, tired, watered down halftimes are not going to cut it. and i guarantee you next more than 95% of the bands next year are going to do the same thing. drum major ent, 2 drills, and procrastinate till they get to the stands to crank on the opposing band.
