Top 3 Bands that have blessed the N.O. area are....

We debate back and forth about who's the hottest band now, who was the hottest when we were in school, so on and so forth. But historically, since High School Bands became "a thing" in New Orleans, what THREE bands have offered the city the most? I asked for 3 because I feel that it leaves a little more room to give respect and credit.

And also just interested in the feedback. Not looking to debate the issue just want to know the thoughts and opinions of the masses. Preferably those who have been around to witness at least 3 or 4 decades of bands from different eras..

    Tha K and Da Aug definitely are in there....Idk who else tho...nobody was really talked about as much as those two. They were almost always the top two until Kennedy fell off in the 00's....it's hard to pick a 3rd band because most of the others have had their "big dawg" moments through the years but not enough to say a certain one was more dominant....I will say that it would have to be between Reed, Carver, and 35 for that 3rd spot tho. A few honorable mentions are Da 4, Da Mac, and Marshall(for being the most dominant middle school band).

    1960s------St Aug,Booker T.Washington,Mcdonogh # 35 ((((Cohen,Landry,Carver,Clark were GOOD BANDS))))

    1970s-----St.Aug,McDonogh # 35,John McDonogh...(((Brimmer didnt arrive @ Fortier until the end of the '70s)(((Cohen,Landry,Clark,Carver ,BTW were GOOD BANDS)))

    PROBABLY THE BEST DECADE FOR NOLA BANDS BCUZ ALL THE GREAT NOLA BAND TEACHERS WERE IN THEIR PRIME AND TEACHING @ ALL THE JR HIGH/MIDDLE SCHOOL/HIGH SCHOOLS !

    MRS STAMPS.MRS BUSCH,BRIMMER,HARRIS,HARRIS,MCGOWAN,SPENCER.HAMPTON,KERR SR,BATISTE,RICHARDSON,CHACERE,SANDERS to name a few .

    1980s-----St.Aug,,,Mc#35,,JFK,,Fortier,,,John McDonogh....a good & strong Decade bcuz there were still very good high school and jr high/middle school bands and music programs

    early 1990s---St.Aug,,,,JFK,,,,Mc#35
    late 1990s---St Aug,,,JFK,, Mc # 35 & ????

    2000s pre Katrina------St Aug ,,,,,Reed,,,Carver

    Ok, based on ur list, I'll give my 3rd spot to 35. I don't know as much about the other bands before the 80s, but it looks like 35 was the most consistent behind St. Aug and Kennedy. I see that 35 had big dawg status way before Kennedy came up, but once Kennedy came up, 35 wasn't enough competition for them.

      To me Kennedy fell off in 04 from 00 to 03 they was still considered a top band especially 00-01 that's was a nice year for Kennedy

    I basically agree with your whole list except the late 90s I feel like Reed and John Mac could replace either 35 or JFk but as far as consistency St.Aug ,JFK, and 35 gave you that putting a top 3band out almost every year.

    I would have to agree that Aug, K, and 35 would have to be the 3 that I would go with, although during the late 70's to mid 90's John Mc had some very nice bands. Fortier was nice during the 80's to mid 90's. One band I think cats forget about though is Reed. Reed had some nice years from the mid 90's to mid 00's. Nonetheless, I think it should be Aug, K, and 35.  I grew up watching these bands in the late 80's and 90's and as a kid you thought you were watching a college band come through.
