Jus wantd to giv props to all my students who did UIL today n for u guys to kno how proud i am of u. also how well u all rep HISD today...congrats to the 9 of yall who will b moving on to STATE UIL SOLO & ENSEMBLE contest....way to go folks...Congrats to STERLING BAND KIDSWESTBURY BAND KIDSYATES BAND KIDSdidnt kno u guys ratings but im sure yall wreckd great job!!!! Appreciate ur directors cz they work hard!

Yea man we had DISD solo and ensemble today it was crazy! We sent a lil over 90 kids it was a good day. Percussion wise we had 10 everybody got a 1 or a 2 nobody got anything lower then that. Ren congrates on your kids doing well keep up the good work. But heres the problem that I have with some on this site, after the parades guys run and post who blew out who and what band was waxing or beasting, but I don't see them cats on here with clips of Solo and Ensemble! We do our kids a grave injustice when we LIMIT them to one style of music or we don't introduce them to all types of music. Some of these cats don't get it, if your kids can play Sonata in B flat you will be amazed how much better of a player they will be! I started a post earlier but I didn't post it cause I it was a lil harsh but since you brought it up Ren I had to say something! And this is not to any kids this is strictly directed to the Band Directors who do this! Im talking straight to B.D.
Congratulations!!! When the individual musician improves, it makes the band as a whole much better. The graduating seniors can use that solo as their audition piece, as well. Much props to those directors that are building their programs up THE RIGHT WAY...
We go next week (Region 19). Hopefully I'll have some good news to tell. *praying*
Yea u right twin, lots of skooos jus focus on blowing or jus marching band...but i always tell my kids u aint ish if u cant keeo up w "them folks" they expect us to not b able to go to uil n clean up so thats y i drive em hard....i refuse for them to look at my kids n think they not serious bout music...i got a degree n music NOT MARCHING BAND! Man u shuda seen d look on them folks face wen we all walkd out w our shinny band jackets on and had BLUE MEDALS!! Priceless....if they go to the MOON then so are WE!!!! Austin, tx we on the way lol....i heard a lil of sterling's quartet (mood swing)
n u guys sounded! But it wS a gud day for us we only had one to get a 2 but the (B.S.) judge didnt care for her tone....so we kno how that goes....

I also want to thorwn in...JEFF DAVIS got all one's... our two soloiest recived 1's... and our Quartet and mariachi band recived 1's all so..... Big up to MR.J @ Worthing .. MR. Woodson @ Sterling.. MR. Willaims @ YATES and Mr. Washington @ Westbury..... You kats did great I got a chance to hear just some or worthing drummers......and wow.. I stayed a round at Morton Ranch High School for a little while to see who showed up and who didnt........ Thank you some much for all the students that showed.... for putting H.I.S.D on the good path to building better band programs!!!! I was glad to see all the faces even though yall might not know me, I sure know yall...LOL......... Now its Concert band time!!!!!!... So lets go and rock that event too!!!!!
....OH YEAH.. and I want to also Add a great Job to Mikey from Westbury.. he's a trumpet player that recived 1's on his solo class 1 peice.... and is only a freshman at Westbury.. I thought that was just great.. good job Mikey!!!

MAN thanks but on the real.. your kids.. did very well.. they going to state.... thats major kat!!!!.....now ya see if folks want to talk nosie.. this is how you should do. it not with just marching band.. heck... Lets pull out all the stop.. DID you got to the concert conctest, JAZZ, solo, region, sate... This to me makes a great program. Not good but great program and thats exactley what your doing MR.J ever sence Dowling middle when i was at madison.. you have always put your best students..aka foot forward..LOL... and I just want to say thanks you for doing so... you never seem to let me down when it comes to this grerat art we call music......... kats like.....(Gerald Scott),(Dafnie Lablanck,) (Ramon) on(T-bone.) ...(Dejuan on Baritone). (Chris Welche trumpet player) are just a small few of your products that have proven time and time again.. that you are a great teacher... I know there are many more like Point Dexter.. MAX on Tuba..LOL....BUT... I just want to say thank you Ren.... because I've known you ever sence I got to madison from smiley.. wich was fall 2002... and you have always showed me that no matter what your situation is ..
