Hmmm when i saw this topic...I didn't think it'd be taken sections from different bands and putting them together...smh
What makes an EXCELLENT band program is the director showing his/her students various genres of music from basic hiphop all the way to classical pieces and marches. Teaching them proper Theory...it does not matter if they will continue with it or not. Theory in a program is important for all music. Having very good warm up techniques..Arpeggios, Chorales, Major and/or Minor scales. Even the instrument and mouthpieces the students play on are important. and Leadership and Dedication
Why compare different bands and sections and pretend if various sections very in one band...who cares???
i meant like what expectations from each section, not random ass sections.

What is YOUR idea of an EXCELLENT band program?
Who would be your director?
Trumpets?
LB?
Woodwinds?
Drum Sec.?
Mellos?
Flag / Auxilary?

It depends on the type of band you want.
If your a Meac-ish type band
then my idol director would be a saxophone or trumpet player
If your a SWAC-ish type band
the idol director would be a LB
