I havent seen them in a long time....it was like in 08....and that was they drumsection....i havent seen the band since like 2007....are they still around????because im really considering joining next year....if they have a band.....
Last I heard one of Knighten's asst. directors tried to get it off the ground. With their band hall built and them having all new stuff I'm sure things will be jumping over there soon. They said the last time no students were attending so they shut it down. I don't know if Knighten's assistant or someone else will be over there this time. They need a director to build that band just like the other schools now. I guess when we see LLI band on top then we will trully know BR bands are back on the scene.

Why must a band program depend on Cleo's boondoggle program??? Its a shame to see kids and good directors tied up in a bunch of bs politics. The band is there to perform, show up in busses and trucks with "LLI" and the State seal on it as a front for Cleo when he has speaking engagements.
Support the individual programs and get them going... All the focus is on LLI and not the High Schools.
Where LLI???(Louisiana Leadership Institute)

I called up there today..they said they will be recruiting starting in November. The lady said they are seeking students who are serious in dveloping their musical talents and the program will have marching, symphonic, and jazz bands. She also said that Mr. Charles (Mr. Knighten's assistant is interim director). I emailed him to see if he knows something. I can't lie the building looks nice and theyre building a football field in the back. If politics don't get in the way, it may be a good experience for their members. I guess we will have to wait and see what happens. I know if I was still in scool I would go to see how it will start off. Especially when you consider that most of the schools have bands again lol
I received your email bandfan. I didn't anything current to tel you until now. I will just post it as a thread on here. As far as myself being selected as director, that isn't so. However I will be assisting in anyway possible. It is going to be a great opportunity for band members and so much more other than instrumental music. As director of a school band program, and I bet my fellow colleagues on here can agree, I see the potential of offering our young people the opportunity to have exposure to some of the best talent on a local, state, regional, national, and soon international level. Members will have the resources they will need to train with quality professional instructors from Southern University and Louisiana State University. It is very exciting this year because with the addition to new facicilities, bands in the baton rouge area has increased in members. That in addition to metro areas who have been contacting me asking about sign-up. The new practice schedule gives all students who are interested and dedicated to strengthening up their mnusicianship and craft the opportunity to join us. Like Micheal Jacksion..This Is It! Holla back
