The Southern University “Human Jukebox” Marching Band will host the 1st Extreme State Championship High School Battle of the Bands at 5 p.m., on Oct. 24 in A.W. Mumford Stadium on the Baton Rouge campus.

Eighteen high school bands will compete for the first place trophy.

Performing bands are:

Baker High School                                     Jeanerette High School

Madison High School                                 Glen Oaks High School

McMain High School                                   Istrouma High School

Washington Marion High School                Scotlandville High School

McKinley High School                                 St. Martinville High School

Huntington High School                             Northwest High School

Warren Easton High School                       Opelousas High School

OP Walker High School                              Donaldsonville High School

Beaumont Central High School (special guest)         

Roots of Music (special guest)

The rapper Mystikal will serve as the host for the competition. Rappers Level, Jim Jack and other surprise guests will also perform.

The first 1000 tickets sold are $10; the remaining tickets will be $15.  Tickets are now on sale at Bowie’s Record Shop, 9162 Scotland Ave., Music Treasure Chest, 410 N Acadian Thruway, and La Rhythms Music Store, 9656 Burbank Dr. Ste. I.

Tickets can also be purchased at the local participating high schools and at the door.

Doors will open at 4 p.m.

  • I know there not gonna pick a N.O. band to win. Thats how it always is in BR. N.O. gets no love smh but i really wanted to see them boys in action. To me you can't have a state BTOB without one of the greats not in it

  • No ones tossing shade at the N.O bands. Its a "marching" comp and N.O bands dont march. St Aug, yes but the rest please. Just watch the field shows, if they even do one.
  • Yea I agree with both of you...ima go but from the looks of it the just chose random bands from areas and not the best...jus a way to get more people to come I guess to make $ because I.kno for a fact a good 4+ bands on that list are not close to being best in the state...not by a long shot.
