2009 Band Pre-Season Rankings

Louisiana's Best#1.O.P Walker- I feel like they are the most well rounded band in the state as far as drilling, sound, and size. They have taking the title post-Katrina.{key matchup} Wk 10 vs Warren Easton#2.St.Aug- The legendary St.Aug, are looking to reclaim there throne as the best in the south.{key matchup}Wk 2 vs McDonogh #35#3.Carroll- You can't compare this band to one college band because they have there own swagg, and are dominating north louisiana.{key matchup}Wk 3 at Peabody#4.St.Martinville- This is a band that a lot of people slept on last year, they have good size and sound with decent drills and a potential perinial powerhouse.{key matchup}BOTB competitions#5.Peabody- What this band lacks in size, they make up for with lights out drills and Southern University ready Drum majors.{key matchups}Wk 5 vs Ferriday#6.McDonogh #35- This band is the master of stands, they will tease then "bam", in your face with a wall of sound .{key matchups}Wk 9 at O.P Walker#7.Ferriday- The master's of GSU's style of marching, this band has been consistent for a very long time.{key matchups}Wk 4 vs Wossman#8.Mckinley- I can't recall this band ever falling off. They are the most consistent band on Baton Rouge high school scene.{key matchups}Wk 6 at Istrouma#9.Southwood- They are exciting, at a battle of the bands competition this band will give you your money's worth. They really know how to put on a show.{key matchups}Wk 6 at Natchitoches Central#10.Fair Park.Washington Marion,John McDonogh,Jackson(not sure if they still have a band),Warren Easton

  • Yall must have the same opinion. I thought this thread would have had a million critics by now
  • Mckinley has feel off so band it makes no sense. As far as Baton Rouge i think that Istrouma/Scotlandville are the best in the city. Scotlanville is sloppy but they have the players. Istrouma has a nice size and sound but they dont have too many strong players. If those kids practice more on gettin stronger tones they we be okay. just like Mck Glen Oaks is also sloppy. So look for either Scotlanville or Istrouma to run BR this year.
    • SHlT no.... Dude MCK has NOT fallen off....us b.r bands are growin and comin up fast....scotlandville is still good, istroima young so don't expect too much...and glen oaks is beastin

  • mane peabody should be like #3
  • Whats funny about you putting Walker over St. Aug. is that they can't out drill St. Aug., they don't sound CLEANER than St. Aug. and St. Aug. is a little bigger than Walker. Your reasoning for putting Walker first doesn't really hold water, but that's your opinion. Not to mention St. Aug. has killed Walker in their last to meetings.
  • have u seen st. aug this year we are not talking bout any other year n st. aug only got walker once last year walker killed them two years n a row.... walker have the biggest band this year 09-10 and a good balanced sound st. aug is good this year but they fell off last year was they best post katrina band 06-07 walker killed em...07-08 walker demolished em 08-09 st aug got em but walker was still bringing dat smoke
