  • well i had fun this weekend...glad the weather held up during the whole game ...AAMU has some nice things goin on over there....there low brass esp. baritones are the strongest ...for the most part their sound was good some of their arrangements were questionable to me and sounded alike...there field show left a LOT TO BE DESIRED....i know it was homecoming and all but there crowd wasnt in to it and neither was I..

    UAPB did good we are still a work in progress...our low brass is quite strong and our high brass esp trumpets surprised me saturday...our field show got MAD HOUSE the MJ show at someones homecoming is good strategy....crowd loved it from drum major rountine to exit....our sound is good and strong but still can be jelled some more some entrances were weak. due to lack of attention and miscommunication...

    5th quarter was good for both bands....UAPB played very well and alternated between power songs an ballads...AAMU played one ballad i can remember the rest was power songs...i would have liked to have heard more musical selections/ contrast....everything cant be loud!!!

    ALL IN ALL....
    Fieldshow = UAPB
    5th = ......BOTH BANDS HAD STRONG POINTS...i gotta watch the clips in HD ...lol to make a clear assumption
  • song selections was bad!!!!!
  • AAMU was strong the entire game! Maybach Music!!!!!!
  • Both bands did good, UAPB needs more trumpets they are nonexistent a lot but other than that the band as a whole sounds really good, that's the only thing that's holding UAPB back for that top spot!
  • Smith, you can never go by AAMU's crowd.... the visiting band will always get more house... Miles got HELLA house in 96 when they had a 30 piece band and did a 10 minute dance routine (their entire show was a dance routine)...AAMU did a typical homecoming show, which was IMO boring... AAMU's Michael Jackson show was more entertaining than UAPBs IMO... but UAPB had the better field show. Homecoming is probably the worst game for a true band battle....You have alumni requesting certain songs....5th... UAPB just didnt have the WOW factor until the DOA song...they sounded great but after they played everyone in the middle of the field was like ok next. UAPBs trumpets need some horses... they are holding the band back from greatness.... also tell the sousaphones to NEVER play a fanfare again.... those were the worst fanfares I had ever heard from a sousaphone section. I like the "uniform" look UAPB had in the stands... they looked great from across the field.

    about the selections in the 5th... describe "musical" selections... I never understood what that meant...All music is musical right? Do you mean soft slow ballads? Different strokes for different folks...AAMU was going for the WOW factor and they got it after each selection.

    Glad UAPB made the trip....something different for Huntsville to see since it has been a minute since they have been seen here. Both bands did what they do best and the crowd got their money's worth. Props to both bands.

    i think i did describe what i meant by musical selections...to me when you play everything up tempo and goin for VOLUME...it gets ..... showing more contrast in dynamics, style, etc......

    uapb trumpets did well in all clips i have seen...it wasnt like from across the field all you heard was AAMU trumpets either..

  • Im not even commenting during the game... I know that you have to be seriously bringing it to get a trumpet sound to make it from one side to the other since there is so much space between the bleachers and the field... Im commenting on the 5th...standing in the middle of the field.
