So, it looks like we just finished the first week of the season. What are your rankings?
From what I saw:
1. NOASB
2. MAAB
3. MMB/GAMB (From what I saw, Memphis is more louder, but Georgia has a clean, full sound)
5. HUMB
6. DMB
I haven't seen the River Region or Arkansas bands yet.

The list was made during the first week. I did not know that 337 had a band.

This is my Week 2, knee jerk reactions/opinions. Please comment if you have different rankings. I was finally able to watch the majority of the videos. I did not watch the full DMB/337/River Region field battle, but I watched the other matches, along with the stand battles:
1. MMB: Easy 1st place. Great showing this past weekend. Full, clean, and a good book.
2. LLI: Put LLI over NOASB due to the head to head matchup on the field. They were fuller and more consistent.
3. NOASB: Massive sound, but what if you take away the mellos? Nice book.
4. MAAB/337: Kind of disappointed with MAAB. Book was just OK and they were not as full as previous years. However, impressed with 337. The book could have been better, but nice sound. I like that they sounded like a Southwestern LA band. Reminds me of old WM or the all star band a few years back from Lafayette. A slightly different vibe from LLI and did not over blow.
6. GMB: Dropped their ranking because they did not show. They may have been competitive with MAAB/337.
7. DMB: Impressed with what Dallas did. I was not expecting much from them, but they were able to produce a decent band. However, not a fan of their book and nothing spectacular about them.
8. HUMB: Dropped rankings because they did not show. They are probably closer to DMB. I think their book could put them over DMB, but they would have to sound as one instead of different sections battling each other.
9. River Region
10. Arkansas
Week 3 Beat the Heat
1. HUMB: Good showing this week. You all increased in size and worked on refining your sound. That's what band competition is about. Make adjustments and play. I liked the song selection and I can't wait for TxSU to play some of the songs this season.
2. MAAB: Good book. Teen Spirit is the song for me. I'll flip if J-State plays that at a PWI. Even though yall were down members due to a bus breaking down?... Yall still played well and surprised many folks. Those bones were serious.
3. LLI: Good job. You all hosted a nice BOTB for the summer and the sound was there, but not feeling the book. I can tell that they have a lot of high school students, which is not bad at all. Can't wait to hear from yall next year.
