http://www.publicbroadcasting.net/kera/news.newsmain/article/1/0/1523049/North.Texas/Paul.Quinn.College.Fights.for.LifeThis is terrible not only for the HBCU community but more importantly for the city of Dallas. I know I am not alone here when I say an HBCU can have an enormous effect on a city and its black inhabitants. HBCU's teach us as black people how to work together towards a common goal and how to strive and survive. I believe it is obvious to the rest of the world that the African American community of Dallas, Tx has problems when they let one of the greatest black colleges of all time, Bishop College, crumble and dissapear. Once again we see this with Paul Quinn losing its accreditation. What are your feelings about this

This has been a long time coming. Although Paul Quinn has given alot of "us" an opportunity at higher learning, it has had money issues for a long time. That's why Bishop moved from Waco and became Paul Quinn here in Dallas. But even though the A.M.E. church is the reason that Paul Quinn has remained open for as long as it has, someone/s can't keep their hand out the cookie jar.
One of my professors told me one of the realest things ive ever heard:
"If you can make it out of an HBCU, you can make it anywhere in the world"
reason being because we have so little to work with, (and from hearing the stories from fellow HBCU'ers, this is a truth that spans all black institutions)...whether it be money, facilities, food, whatever. If you can graduate from an HBCU, you will be set with a set of skills in life that you never would get anywhere else, with all due respect to any other non-HBCU

This is terrible not only fo…
Realest thing i ever heard and they are so right! Most HBCU's dont have the same luxuries as our white counterparts, and we dont complain so to speak lol we do what we have to do and make it happen. I went to two hbcu's one was smaller less know and one a much more known and larger. At my corporate orientation a year ago, i was sitting in the room with the likes of folk for harvard, brown, mit, unc-ch and other so called finer institutions, i smiled, because i knew my education cost a fraction of what theirs cost but i knew i was just as if not more prepared for what I was about to embrak on and man i wouldnt trade it for anything in the world.
