Arrangement Game...

Ok we have like 350+ post about JSU/SU game and the people that are saying JSU took the W haven't clearly stated why, I honestly think this year battle was neck and neck but lets play a game...

 

post a clip from the game where the arrangements can be compared....for example what arrangement JSU had that can even touch "Nobody supposed to be here" or "Ooh Baby Baby"...out of those posts many people tend to forget that yes JSU was LOUD but lacked quality arrangements!

    Arrangements isn't an element so why overlook it? I will call the battle a draw, SU had more better arrangements and JSU had a very nice song selection.

    Dont have to fight to justify a W for SU never will...I give credit where credit is due...I was at the game and yes JSU brought a battle, a good one at that! They were loud at points...but they lack arrangements and still no fields presence a MARCHING BAND is about the field first and stands second at least it suppose to be that way!


    But answer the topic...What arrangement JSU had that was close to touching "Nobody Suppose To Be Here"?

    Man, it's a list of songs Jax35 had no answer for.

    Im sorry...DT's sees this every year. Jax35 gets folks with the "song selection" thing...but, apparently folks ain't listening to the actual arragements. The intro will be fiya...gett'n the crowd to sing'n and whatnot. But, the rest of it is ratchet. I can get Gram to be a crowd favorite with intros. That's their main weapon. They do that every year.

    Arrangements are and element, from that perspective Southern had a clear edge. But I also think Song Selection plays a part to and that's where JSU sort of closed the gap. But from a pure playing ability/balance/arrangement perspective Southern won hands down. That's not saying JSU was bad. But their was on obvious difference. Particularly the 5th, I liked JSU's song selection, but in Zero, Southern's song selection.

    I totally agree...they can write a million crowd pleasers, but coming from a bandhead point of view it need to be arranged on a collegiate level...so many of their songs were high schoolish!!!

    yeah i agree, it seems as though execution is being thrown out of the window. it also seems to be more of a "ohh did you hear that they played _____" instead of "why does the band seem to be playing everything legato" or "why did the baritones have this particular part"

    bands can play anything new year end and year out

    WOW!!! This clip proves my point!!! SU played a more musical and POWERFUL version and JSU came with a LOUD and high school version..thanks!!! oh and remember there is a difference between LOUD and POWERFUL and thats why SU will always be SUperior to J-State

    Think about it..and, transpose the arrangement thing outside of the band world.

    For example....The rap game. What's the ONLY reason most of these cats are getting air time? Hint: It sho' as hell ain't their lyrics and/or what they're talking about.

    It's the beat(s)...aka the ARRANGEMENTS. So, how in the heck do arrangements manage to convienantly take a back seat when power/volume are already neck and neck? That thought process is beyond me.
