Full Time Assistant Band Director Dec 8, 2009 Dover, Delaware DELAWARE STATE UNIVERSITY POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT: ASSISTANT BAND DIRECTOR APPLY ONLINE: W.DESU.EDU The DSU Band is part of the Music Department within the College of Humanities & Social Sciences. The position of assistant band director will be a 12-month professional staff person who will assist the Director of Bands in the operation of the university band program. Candidate must have knowledge and ability to arrange for university marching band and show evidence of such with at least 3 scores or arrangements they have completed. Candidates must also have knowledge of field shows and show evidence of this with a video of field shows they have designed. A.B.A. or B.S. degree in Music Performance or Instrumental Music Education is required. At least 3 years of experience as a band director or assistant director on the university level is preferred or at least 6 years as a band director on the secondary level. Responsibilities: Assist with marching band, director of concert band/wind ensemble or jazz ensemble (based on qualifications) and other duties as assigned by the director of bands. Compensation: Salary is negotiable and commensurate with experience.
