You should listen to your director point blank! You may not agree with him but disobeying a director will get you put out of the band! That section leader should understand and check him/herself!!!
Band Director.......Ultimately, I would want the band director to be happy with me than my section leader. Section leaders come and go. The band director decides your faith as far as band (for most ppl, that means financially too). I know exactly what you mean though............me personally, a section leader who can't follow rules will be dismissed immediately once convicted of (Sabotage). There are some students who have better capabilities than the director but it's simply not their place to contradict...
i see i got answers from 2 directors cuz my lil bruh was a crab(2008) (SWAC BAND) in a band and he was tellin me stuff sayin that that section leader was sayin do wat i say an dis an dat. then again if u dont listen to that director its worse and it can b worse wit ur section leader lol so its crazy, but i told em do wat eva tha director say cuz all n all he got ya fate not ur section leader.
You can have a different opinion from the director but the bottom line is that the director is just that, THE DIRECTOR whether it is an assistant or the top man what the director says goes! Point blank! If you can't do that and decides to listen to a fellow student! You get the privilege to kick rocks as a spectator!!!
The band director. When it's all said and done, that certain section leader isn't gonna renew your scholarship or send you a band camp letter continuing your marching career
In the ideal band, everybody listens to the BD. But honestly, how many ideal bands are out there now?
For instance,
As far as I know, EVERY BD stictly prohibits hazing (or any inappropriate behavior) within their bands. Yet it still goes on. Sounds like an ongoing case of disobediance to me...starting from the section leader on down. I may have gone of on a tangent...but it's just my two cents.
