To a normal person, it'll be something to watch when they feel nothing else is on...to a bandhead...this station will be on their TV screen all day and all night lol.
But it'll be a good place to air showcases and battle of the bands. and when DCI does their thing...wait....crap i missed the shows in Cypress last week...damn..good example of why we need band TV lol. Can't make it to everything, just like how most people don't make it to far far game ins NCAA or NFL n such. Be awesome if they could air the Houston MLK BOTB on Tv, or the National Marchign Competition from Birmingham. and the list will go on and on and on!
Exactly. Look at the Outdoor Channel, who watches it? Hunters and fisherman and stuff. That channel is ALWAYS on their TV. Look at a regular person, never. But, it would be pretty cool though.

band tv?
if there was a band tv station or channel how would the ratings be and would it last on air??
I think because the "band community" isnt that big compared to other Channels dedicated to certain things, there won't be many views..meaning less commercials.....meaning they making less money....meaning they probably won't succeed. besides how many commercials do you see that has horns and mouthpieces ads?
oh yeah you do have a good point. Unless the creators of this channel get in with major music corporations and musicians to advertise these things. Like Cannonball Video on youtube, they can have their own tevleised series that talk about improving one's self on their horn. and advertise MArchign band competitons, Concerts of any sort. and all kinds of things. you may not see these things now but if you work to get these thigns, Band TV will be a successful thing. You know how lazy kids during the summer leave their horn in a courner and let it collect dust for 3 months, well maybe if they could watch that one station, they'll be inspired to pick up that horn. Never know what wonders it will do.
I also believe that it might get the next gereation of children more into music and we have middle school and high school bands sounding like college bands.

Dont forge West Coast. and also, it shouldnt straight show style...that'll discourage half the nation out. reason why i said also have State corps competitons and DCI comps.

Well I think If Band had a show then a channel, it could feature the lives of band students from Texas to all the way to Virginia......

I think it would be a great Idea... Having a channel or even just a regularly scheduled show dedicated to the music and fine arts programs would be a big thing... I think it could work if we could gather enough cameras and commentators to spread out around the nation and do mini documenteries on random schools and projects. Then if it's in a channel format you could do special programming for big events like the Honda, major DCI competitions and even some big High School BOTB's... This would really draw attention to the fine arts programs for schools around the country. To make it a more round about programming schedule they could bounce around the fine arts world using of course Marching Band as the leading subject, but also do segments on Orchestra, Jazz and then get into the dance/choir/theater features... Band Camps and special off-season events (i.e. Parades, Basketball games, special appearences at concerts) would be perfect for filler segments... hmm... Where's my little black book, time to get this ball rolling...
If there are any admins viewing this thread, please repost it in the College and General Discussion forums... I think this idea is actually possib;e and if we have enough man power behind the intentions, it's definately worth a shot...
I know you guys remember when BET had the mini-docu on Grambling... Let's get it!!!
