Its a boring Saturday so im searching the web for the 70 - 80 or so bands that were invited to march Obamas Inauguration parade.So far I gathered that Obama has 2 bands from Hawaii going... and Biden has 5 groups from his StateUnfortunately, I haven't come across any Texas band that may be going, maybe I missed it... I think thats pay back because of you know who but thats just my opinion... I mean Texas has so many... Clements, Allen HS, UT, PVAM, HASB, Willowridge and more and NOT one band has announced an invite, which is funny. So Klein Collins HS ROTC and a dance group from San Antonio urban15.org "the article" is invited BIG DEAL! Obamas people should throw the shoes at Bush not the TX bandheads...And maybe "Reppa" could explain how Dunbar was picked over Ballou lol to represent DCAnywhoI am soooooooo curious on how the bands were selected but props to those who were picked. Dunbar HS was picked because of its History of the School... Its THE 1st HS in DC and its THE most Prestigious High School in the Nation being the 1st School for African Americans. Parents from as far as Louisiana sent their kids to Dunbar high school for (at the time) the best education a child could get. (they had Professors and not "Teachers" who wasn't able to work in white Colleges)
Im still kinda pissed that they picked them....... But hey...... Ballou is goin to Rose bowl AND Macy's in 2009, Eastern High School had done The most inaugural Parades than any Black High School Band (3 in a row). i think its time for Dunbar to get a chance now.
Blame your state.... i think its because the states that get the invites are the states that supported Obama the most... and Obama didnt do so well with the Southern States
Yep no bands from Texas were selected and I believe there were supposed to be two. I know our band sent an application or whatever and we weren't invited but when our band director asked them who was from Texas, and they said that information wasn't being revealed yet. It turned out nobody was selected.
this is just my opinion not to down anyone but its more high school then college band going and i feel we work just as hard if not harder so whats the deal wit that but congrats to all the bands who get chosen good luck play well Obama 08

in reality,, Its always more High Schools than Colleges......so more HS's will be picked than colleges
