  • On trombone: two ways- 1)using airflow much the same as a singer, however this can affect tuning and create pitch problems. It needs to be practiced so as not to cut the note off too short. 2) using the slide. Can produce the same problems and also result in a smear...takes practice. To do this on the slide, the objective is to move the slide as fast as possible but with the least distance to get the "vibrato" effect.
    On baritone: see 1)above.
Do it by practicing with long tones and using vibratovat the end of phrases and cadences. Do it all volume levels and for all notes within yyour range. Might also want to listen to some Kai Winding, J.J. Johnson and Slide Hampton. There's another guy with a german name but his name escapes me right now. I'll return when it comes back.
  • Bill Watrous, Andre Heyward...still cannot remember the german guy's name
  • on B-Tone...use ur diaphram as a a support system...u have to learn hot to use ur body in junction with the horn...fill ur gut with the air but dont use too much of the air at one time....embrace the song ur playing just as if u were singing it...emotions in music sung or played will help u become a better player or singer..
  • When your trying to vibrato think of "yeh yeh yeh". Slighty move your jaw up and down. I think Jaw vibrato is the best because it will not affect your intonation as much as the other forms.
  • thanks folks
