  • We used to have some great band programs around the Baton Rouge area. Our bands have some hard work to do to get near the level that they used to be 5-6 years ago.
  • I didn't know baton rouge had high school bands lol!
  • Yes, you know Baton Rouge, the area that just killed the poor overhyped Shreveport-area bands when they came to BOTB down here. I must say right now, Shreveport would kill Baton Rouge.
  • Once you see one BR band you've pretty much seen/heard em all
  • This is so true, they have no originality at all because they all wanna mimic SU

  • So are yall saying BR high school bands are bland? lol
  • well I guess a "Jukebox influence" is a better term.

No offense to you sexi mamacitas that dance but it is what it is

You have schools like Fairley, BMT Central, Willowridge, W-Marion (06' and earlier) who have that SU feeling but its not exactly a carbon copy. You goto a BR BOTBs and EVERY BR school will play on the field damn near what SU did the Saturday before. Then they all march the same formations to the same 4 or 5 SU songs except in a different order. I forget what the magic field numbers are. I think its 32, 48, 64 or something like that. But its all the same formations.

Well if they are bland then they aren't by themselves.
  • Never said SU was bland ma...Gotta clear that up before I get jumped. SU gonna be SU lol

Talking about the HS bands that need to add a little flavor besides the one minute or so the dolls dance.
  • only LA bands i knew about before the internet scene boomed was N.O.
    .......
....and i still don't know much about BR OR Shreveport bands, or at least none really stand out....
  • After 2005, Baton Rouge bands went down the drain...I remember Glen Oaks from '01 to '03...We would always place 2nd to them at Battle of the Bands due to the fact that they would always out-march us. And that f-horn section: my god!!!
