  • u know antonio i was gonna say mr. jackson just because he's following a legend in dr. greggs but since u mentioned dr. pannell i must agree with you.to lose your wife of a lot of years in the middle of football season and come back to work and have grambling looking and sounding the way they did this year.he definitely deserves to be "DIRECTOR OF THE YEAR".and this is coming from an su man to the heart.

  • noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!
  • Dowell Taylor 1984-91 JSU Sonic Boom..............
  • Of THIS year...smh...

Can't argue with recognizing Dr. Pannell. Most people would have called it a wrap after dealing with the loss of a close family member.

I would add Dr. Ruff from NCA&T. They had a really good season this year.
  • Hard to choose one but imma give a tossup for band director of the year, between Mr. J @ Southern and Dr. Pannell @ Grambling........Both have years comin in two different spectrums.......we all kno that Dr. Pannell had the tragic loss of his wife this season only to return and continue to bring the World Famed to new peaks and bounds as the year rounded out. Also this year over @ da U Mr. Jackson had the band on point and precision throughout the adversity that followed, which included Hurricane Gustav and the now infamous "Mellow Phi Felons" incident, which put a dent in the Jukebox's legacy, still in all every single show throughout the year raised the bar continuously as the band's showmanship and musicianship reigned supreme........However it must go to Dr. Pannell for his courage and strength through his ordeal.....Honorable mention: Mr. Jackson for his fortitude and attitude
  • Since Im part of The Marching Storm I would like to gie it up to Prof. Edwards...he is a strong man coping also with the suspension of the band in the beginnig of the year he was able to get us through and start FRESH! He was able to manage and take us to the Rose Parade a great accomplishment for the STORM and PVAMU, one of the greatest things we have done. Took the time and effort all semester to get us everything new for the parade including (all new uniforms, shoes, hats, spats, plumes, tubas, mellos, baritones and other instruments). The terrible problem that he has with his back madde him miss some practices and even the Angel City Classic but it was not enough to stop him and helo the band with better recognitions. He made it a great year for the Marching Storm and has put us higher than ever before. After 30 years he has not complained about his job and is proud of his fellow Storm members. I would gladly offer this award to him.
  • sounds great bruh and i'm not hating but to put that against what dr. parnell went through this year, anyone else would have probably retired or been out for a longer period of time.sorry my bd of the year trophy goes without hesitation to dr. parnell

  • Both Jackson and Pannell have had very hard times this year and they stood strong

Jackson lost his father summer 08 .. and then their are the things u have to go through in and around band that just make things hard
  • I would have to say Gramblings Band director also, he went through hell and he still made sure his band sounded good, Gramblings sound this year was very nice, Kudos to Pannell and his staff!
