  • from my understanding, vibrato shouldnt be used while playing with ensembles unless u have a solo which is very unlikely in marching band....
  • don't do it lol

    Calling ALL mellophone/F-horn players
OK i been havin a problem wit this so i wanna kno wat yall have to say bout it. Wat do you think about Mellophone/F-horn players playin wit a vibrato.
  • Wat Im sayin is that a vibrato on a mello or french horn if solo or not is a BIG NO i listen some PROFESSIONAL F-horn players and when they was soloin i didnt hear a LICK of a vibrato they Tone was steady straight across to me nig ga who play wit a vibrato on mello only do it cause they TONE is poo so they TRY to use a vibrato to cover that up
  • Depends on the song and the arrangement. If the mellos have a melody that should be very expressive then yes, but everywhere else... No
  • O Ok i understand wat yall sayin but some people take it TOOOOOO far like every half and whole note and some times quarter note has a vibrato now thats out the box LOL
  • lol i have to disagree with some of you kats

i believe that you can use vibrato, but as someone said not with an ensemble, unless instructed to do so.... I've heard it used on a mellophone and it sounded beautiful "like a voice from tha heavens"...lol... but your tone has to be impeccable...
  • Its a time and a place for everything. I played saxophone before mello so I automatically have to stop myself from using vibrato like I normally would. Its cool when u playin by yourself but definetly not in a marching band setting.
