Dear Friends of “Whole Gritty City”
You were one of the first to discover this film. Now it’s about to become available to just about every television in America
Saturday February 15th, 9pm Eastern and Pacific, 8pm Central and Mountain, CBS 48 Hours Presents “The Whole GrittyCity”
It’s an unusual, amazing opportunity to bring to people across the country the voices of struggling, vibrant, aspiring kids, to show them the sights and sounds of New Orleans - to introduce them to the band directors who are true American heroes.
And it’s happening right in the middle of Black History Month, and on the very first night of New Orleans’ Mardi Gras parade season. (In fact if you’re in New Orleans you may have to figure out how to dvr the broadcast if you want to see all of Krewe du Vieux roll through the French Quarter.)
You can help spread the word, so as many people as possible will know about the broadcast.
It could be sharing the trailer and the page of extra videos and photos on the CBS News site with your friends via email, Facebook or Twitter.
It could be blogging about it if you have a blog.
If you know a teacher, a band director, a musician, a journalist, a blogger, someone who works in an arts or social justice organization – maybe they’d like to know about it, and would be moved the spread the word.
We encourage anyone who wants more information to contact us at info@thewholegrittycity.com
And for those without TVs, or who miss it, or who just have to watch women’s alpine skiing, men’s speed skating, and men’s ski jumping that night.... CBS will have it up for streaming for two weeks after the broadcast. Then in the coming months it will be available online and on DVD.

They did a great job of showing the preparation of a new orleans marching band, the passion that goes into it, the purpose and history behind it, and most importantly, the struggles that face everyone who is a part of this band/music community
