Ok I have been hearing from several people in other school, also mine, about this crab class.. How are the playing talents of your crabs? Is it me or is the talent coming from high school diminishing year after year?

Every crab class is different it don't matter what band you in. Talent might be diminishing in high school due to students getting a new band director every year or every other year. Also some band directors is not teaching the students properly from the start.
u right. where im at...they change band directors it seem like every year...bands in norfolk used to be 100-120 deep. all the high schools...now they barely 25 nd gettin smaller/ nd 1 high school shut the band program dwn...SMH !!

I don't completely agree with some of these assessments.
Even though some of these youngesters' attitudes are all jacked up, the talent is getting into school. IMO, it seems that the crabs are getting sorrier and sorrier because the expectations of them are getting higher and higher every year
Just because bands in general are getting worse and worse, that doesn't mean that these bands don't have quality musicians in their ranks. All it means is that the bands themselves are not getting the needed support from the administration...or the management of the band (ie the leadership) is poor.
THERE AREN'T ANY MIDDLE SCHOOL PROGRAMS... thats where it all begins... A lot of kids are picking up horns in 9th-10th grade... so that pulls the high school bands down and that in turn pulls college bands down... kids start playing pee-wee football at 4, but they not touching a horn until they are 14-15.... just a thought

they seem a bit timid music wise, and some can't march to save their lives
