A brother's always open to hearing new perspectives. So, who really is the best college band? Your answers dont have to be limited to HBCU's either. Just curious.
You need to be a member of bandhead.org to add comments!
it depends on what you're looking for as a listener or observer (or observing musician) especially when dealing with marching bands. personal preference will always keep any argument going.
if i had to judge strictly off the sound of bands via the clips i saw this year. I'd give the #1 spot to UAPB in the SWAC. as for the MEAC, i have not heard anything outside for NCA&T's alleged auto-tuned clip. and I can't make my judgments off that alone.
Thanks for the reply bruh. I feel you. I think we're all observers though. Havent heard Pine Bluff in forever, they used to be really sloppy to me. Ive been suprised by Virginia State though, I like the direction their going in. Heard Alabama State has stepped up as well.
I can agree with you about Virginia state. they have some talented bandsmen. It would be nice if they had a more intense sound though. they get overshadowed SCSU.
whoa, so that first game Adele tribute was allegedly auto-tuned???? LOL, that's funny....

Hey man, I haven't heard from TxSU yet, but they were making some great improvements, but to say they are the best in the SWAC, I'd have to listen to all of the SWAC schools. If the allegations of an auto-tuned performance (LMBO, THIS GETS ME EVERYTIME) of NCAT is not true, they are definitely one of the top MEAC schools. Of course there's BCU and NSU, but Cookman is not on my good side right now because I'm from Florida and I've grown tired of the same show/stand music. NSU is incredible, they just have number issues... But, then again you can't rate a band based on numbers, unless it's an issue of the students deciding not to return because they dislike the band program. But yeah, that's my opinion.
