SWAC Bands are bands that represent schools in the Southwestern Athletic Conference.
But you gotta be careful with how you define things.

There is loophole here. You never know who's listening in the stand. For all you know, there are tons of folks in the crowd who are more musically trained than the average person. Mind you, there are more SWAC band Alumni in the crowds these days than there are members in the SWAC bands. You can't say that they are musically untrained, can you?

A MEAC BAND TENDS TO FOCUS MORE ON ALL THE MUSICAL THINGS SUCH AS BALANCE AND INTONATION AND ALL THAT GOOD STUFF, BUT SACRIFICES THE POWER, AND A LOT OF TIMES THEY BORE THE CROWD BECAUE SE THEY ARE SO FOCUSED ON THAT SOUND AND THE ARRANEGMENTS ARE WRITTEN SO MELLO, AND A LOT OF BANDS TEND TO TRY AND PLAY WITH POWER, BUT USUALLY FAIL BECAUSE ITS NOT CHARACTERISTIC OF A MEAC BAND, I MEAN THE BANDS THAT MAKE UP THE CONFERENCE SHOULD STICK TO WHAT THEY ARE KNOWN FOR....BUT A GOOD BAND CAN DO BOTH POWER AND ALL THE GOOD MUSICAL STUFF, AND THERE ARE BANDS THAT DO IT....
But many stereotype all MEAC bands as having the FAMU type sound. LMAO
^^^I never understood that.....only two bands fit the persona ppl dub as a "Meac band".......but then they want to celebrate diversity when claiming "all SWAC bands wanna do is blow loud"

That depends on what MEAC bands we are talking about. Most of them try to blow like SWAC bands...but don't have the umph to get it done.
Others are so into the music, they'll bore the crowd in their attempts at musical perfection.
So let's just define the MEAC as a hybrid of these two stereotypes...LOL
