Delaware State suspends band, investigating hazing claims

Delaware State University in Dover today suspended itsentire band amid unspecified allegations of hazing.The immediate suspension sidelines about 150 studentmusicians in performing groups from marching band tojazz ensembles and the band flag team and dancers.“The band has never been suspended in the history ofthe university,” said Provost Alton Thompson, vicepresident for academic affairs.“Multiple sources” raised hazing allegations Monday toband director Randolph Johnson, he said, but detailsare not yet known.The investigation’s preliminary focus at this time isdetermining what happened, Thompson said.The allegations did not report any injuries, he said. http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2013/11/15/delaware-state-band-hazing/3575005/

    WOW! Did we not learn anything from the FAMU incident? Why should the whole band suffer for the continued antics of a few students? This is truly sad.
