Dream Battle (for my folks in Houston) ..

The Best thing that could happen right now would be this..

  • HA YEAH I WISH THAT COULD HAPPEN......MAYBE WITH TIME...IT JUST COULD ON DAY...LOL
  • Oooo, say, that would be nice
  • lol yeah one day huh?! lol man that 2001 Smiley was a Beast..LOL .. and that 84 clip of Forest Brook was all i could find... but it makes perfect sense.
  • LOL i just realized it says "Foster Brook" ..lol 1980's typo huh..lol
  • I graduated from Smiley and was Asst. Band Director at the Brook for a couple of years. It depends on the decades you choose. Forest Brook was the king of Houston Bands from the 70s to early 90s when Willowridge invaded seemingly out of nowhere with around 300 kids. IT wasnt until 1995-1996 (my senior year) that Smiley started doing serious damage. Reason: 100 freshmen and a new Asst. Band Director named Mark Gordon who had just graduated from PV. Thus the Quake was born and thrived for 9 years.

I would have to pick Forest Brook as the overall winner because they have more band alumni and they dominated for so long.
  • Forest Brook would be the one....Smiley was ok pre quake but Forest Brook been on it since it was opened. I mean when I was in High school I HATED playing Them and Davis(Davis was not for the band though)...Goldy, do you remember the year the pep squad were wearing the blue and gold Karl Kani units?! Dragging that big cat up and down the sidelines...
  • We'd like to see them come back and talk to the kids we have in the program now. Most still haven't bought into the idea of a "Smiley Brook" (North Forest HS). Hopefully more will come around as we do more things and continue improving...
  • Id love to come talk to your kids and maybe do a one day leadership camp this summer Cleve. Im from both sides of this one. I remember at the Smiley Forest Brook game, Smiley played the school song and I stood up. My kids were like "Hell naw." lmao.
