Why is it that because of a few incidents that have taken place at a couple of HBCU schools, it is said that all HBCU bands and organization (greek, ROTC, athletics, etc) "HAZE", I mean this is nonsense. HBCU's are not the only institutions where "HAZING" is so called is going on (if it does go on), and i hate the fact that these reporters who have not experienced the aspect of a HBCU life are walking around as if we are just beating people to become a part of our family or organization, this is getting way out of control. No one in my organization or band program "BEAT" or "HAZED" me and it pisses me off that everyone who DON'T KNOW S*** keep ASSuming things because of a couple other organizations mistakes and are making an ASS of themselves. I mean yes I was brought in through a Initiation Ritual but i was not hazed. This is tearing every bit of a bond HBCU bandsmen and students had because everyone is pointing the finger. All this "Oh ya'll mad because ya'll got caught" and "Thats why i didn't go to an HBCU" mess is nonsense, NOT EVERY HBCU ORGANIZATION OR BAND PROGRAM HAZE!!! This is why we so called BAND PEOPLE or HBCU STUDENTS involved, or are trying to partake in an organization are so PISSED, because you ASSume, yet again, and think because one HBCU did it then we all must do it. YES, i admit the fact that some people who are guilty of "HAZING" take it too far, but Pledging is not illegal, it is when you take it too far and start doing unlawful things such as putting someone in harms way whats wrong, such as beating someone until they can no longer walk, THAT'S HAZING, in which the so called VICTIM is at fault also. We all have a choice to say NO but some of us choose not to, but thats the thing, WE HAVE A CHOICE, and what about organizations such as the CIA, FBI, MILITARY, POLICE, etc, that put first year members through initiation rituals, they take it too far as well too, but no one gets on there case. COME ON PEOPLE. STOP BEING SO DAMN IGNORANT! INSTEAD OF RUNNING YOUR MOUTH DO SOME FREAKING RESEARCH AND LEARN YOUR FACTS BECAUSE I DID! POINT. BLANK. PERIOD! This is crazy, and yes i wish my friend and fellow DM Robert Champion didn't have to die to open everyone's eyes, but this is not the time to play the "BLAME GAME", WHEN THEY DISBAND ALL ORGANIZATIONS (BAND, ROTC, GREEKS, ATHLETICS) AT HBCU'S FOR GOOD, WHAT WILL WE HAVE? INSTEAD OF FIGHTING AND BLAMING EACH OTHER, EVERYONE NEEDS TO TAKE A STEP BACK, FIND A SOLUTION, AND WORK TOGETHER...
