Our thoughts and prayers go out to the NC A&T St Univ. Marching band family, the Aggies and the Hodge family on the passing of former band director Dr. Johnny B. Hodge early this morning. His impact in music, especially in NC will never be ...forgotten in the HBCU world. A true legend in the world of marching bands who always brought energy and excitement out of this band to the field of music.

  • Oh my. Another legend is gone. R.I.P Dr. Johnny B. Hodge!
  • Oh, the memories! God bless his family and friends! Johnny was an influence in my life from Peck Elementary School on Florida St to Jackson Junior High School to Ben L. Smith High School. I was disappointed in about my junior year of high school to learn that he was leaving our stage band and marching band at Smith for NC A&T. I was always delighted to run into him around Greensboro and always watched for a glimpse of him during Board meetings in Greensboro. Anytime a conversation begins about those school years Johnny Hodge is always a part of it. A true teacher with a passion!
