Getting Rid of The SWAC Rule

if you really pay attention only the SWAC have this rule while other conf. can try to play as loud as they can and they dont get no warning or anything. i fully think if we could have more fans at these games instead of just at the classics than this rule wouldnt exist because that rule is only there cause of bands and less fans...... just a thought

  • It's not just the SWAC. It's just SWAC bands that get the most attention from it by breaking the rule....And it's a FOOTBALL GAME not a BOTB. The point of the event is FOOTBALL and not band as far as the officials are concerned. The bands are there to support the football team.

To us, of course we look at it differently.

  • What is the SWAC rule?
  • that bands cant play or even make a sound before the snap
  • So from the time the team breaks the huddle...till the time the ball is snapped (all of 60 seconds), the bands can't play? That sounds perfectly reasonable to me.

At first, I was against the rule, cause I thought it was an amendment to the original NCAA rule. But seeing that it is in accordance to the official NCAA rule, I don't see what the fuss is all about.

If the band can't sit silent and still for 1 minute intervals, then they need a reprimand. We just gotta learn to play within the parameters of the rules.

And what other conferences have bands as powerful as SWAC bands?
