GRAMBLING STATE CROWNED 2008 SHERIDAN BLACK COLLEGE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSBy GSU Sports InformationDecember 15, 2008News ImageGrambling, winners of 14 Black College National Championships in school history, will officially receive its 2008 National Championship trophy, Saturday, Feb. 14, 2009, during the 35th Annual SBN Black College All-American Awards Weekend at the Omni WilliAfter capturing their 22nd SWAC Football Championship last Saturday, the Grambling State University Tiger football team received another dose of good news on Monday as they were crowned the Sheridan Black College National Champions.Grambling quietly moved up the SBN poll this season as they opened the season ranked No. 7 in the preseason rankings. A season-opening loss to Nevada dropped Grambling to No. 8 but wins in three of its next four games moved them up to No. 4 to open the month of October.The Tigers remained fourth throughout the month of October but moved up to No. 3 the week of Nov. 1. In similar fashion to the previous months, Grambling remained glued to No. 3 throughout November but two late season losses by Tuskegee and South Carolina State catapulted them to No. 1 prior to last weekend’s SWAC Championship Game.This year’s title marks the second SBN Championship for Grambling State head coach Rod Broadway in three years. Broadway also won the title in 2006 at North Carolina Central.Grambling, winners of 14 Black College National Championships in school history, will officially receive its 2008 National Championship trophy, Saturday, Feb. 14, 2009, during the 35th Annual SBN Black College All-American Awards Weekend at the Omni William Penn Hotel in Pittsburgh, Penn.

GREAT JOB GMEN EDDIE WOULD BE PROUD THE LEGACY IS STILL GOING AND FOR THIS TO BE A VERY VERY YOUNG TEAM IN THE NEXT 3 4 YEARS THEY GOING TO GET BETTER. AS SOMEONE STATED BEFORE ON HERE GSU HAD A UNEXPERIECED TEAM( MESSSED THAT WHOLE WORD UP LOL) BUT FOR THE TEAM TO BE THAT THEY WON IT ALL LMAO. I REALLY WANT TO SEE PVU AT THE SWAC CHAMPIONSHIP IN THE NEAR FUTURE THEY WORK VERY HARD IN THE 08 SEASON THEY REALLLY DID. BUT THEY HAVE TO GET THRU GRAM FIRST BUT GOOD LUCK SWAC PERIOD!!!!
