IN-STATE Scholarship ( Louisiana Residents Only)
P1 Scholarship- $2,000 per semester
P2 Scholarship- $1,500 per semester
P3 Scholarship- $1,000 per semester
P.S. The price is like that because it's cheaper for in-state studentsto attend Grambling and most of the time band scholarship plus pellgrant (which is free money) in the amount of $3,000that is usually granted or close to it. Mind you that if you receive aacademic scholarship that pays majority of your costs so the bandscholarship is just extra money in your pocket. ATTENTION: You must maintain at least a 2.0 and at least pass your courses with 12 hours of credit to maintain your scholarship.
OUT OF STATE (Non Louisiana Residents Only)
P1 scholarship- $2,500 per semester
P2 scholarship- $2,000 per semester
P3 scholarship- $1,500 per semester
Out of State Fee Waiver- $2,800
So if you receive a P1. that's $2,500 + 2,800 which is roughly $5,300 per semester
So add the $3,000 that most people receive from pell grant so that would be $8,300per semester and if you're eligible for an academic scholarship whichin most cases pays for the majority of you school, the band scholarshipand the out of state fee waiver is extra money coming back to you inyour pocket. ATTENTION: You must maintain at least a 2.0 and atleast pass your courses with 12 hours of credit to maintain yourscholarship and out of state fee waiver.
P.S. Many colleges don't have the package: Band Scholarship plus Out ofState Fee Waivers and many make you take a certain amount of hours. AtGrambling you can take the minimum or the maximum that the Universityallows. TheUniversity says in order for you to be a full time student and be ableto march in band you must take at least 12 hours and the maximum is 16hours unless granted special permission. It is Grambling's duty tograduate students and not keep students in school forever.
Keep in mind that in Spring 2011 the scholarship and out of state fee waiver at Grambling will receive another increase.

2) Southern and Jackson State are both great institutions of learning in addition to having good marching and concert band programs. It is not like a student will go broke by not having their full tuition paid for by the band, there are many more opportunities for funding out there. When you have your academic stuff in line, having a good band program definitely wouldn't hurt.
2) I used Southern and Jackson State as examples of schools with successful band programs, but get the students for reasons other than just band or money. I am certain Grambling wants students that want to make the full committment to the school and band programs instead of its money. You don't want an organization full of band gold diggers.
3) So you mean to tell me when ya'll go shake it at Oklahoma State or Nevada for football season, do they know more about your marching or concert band? That is the case at every HBCU including FAMU( whom I think has the best comprehensive music program amongst the Southern HBCUs). Just look on Youtube, how many clips do you see of Southern, Jackson State, or Grambling's marching bands compared to their concert ensembles?
And I agree with those academic standards, we don't want any career college students.
