I cant talk on Spiderman's behalf 2 much, but he was sec. leader in 06, 2 years b4 my time, and he wasn't T.O.P.....he still got respect from everybody cuz he was on his sh!t......And as far as Im concerned bout ur question, it dont matter if he crossed the section, cuz some of them ni99as be the worst ones in the section, if he is the best leader, then there's no debate,......plus he did crab like everybody else (excludin b!tch ni99as who snuck in) and got his issue 2 a certain exstent wit his CBs.........He probably got his reasons for not crossin his section, like myself, but I rather have a section leader with no letters, who is a great leader, and gone have his section on point, than someone with em, who aint tryin 2 lead sh!t and allows the entire section look like sh!t......
I won't go into detail because that era of my music career has passed, but let me say that i find it rather ridiculous that people crab in the band and then have to "pledge" a section. I've seen first hand in many bands, the worst player in the section has their letters. Once it gets to that point, then the letters get no respect.
No i didn't finish getting my letters and not once during my 2 year stint (2006 and 2007) as section leader did i regret it. Always remember that the best player or the person who can take a beating or the most embarrassment, or however else other schools pledge their sections, does not make that person the best leader.
In an ideal world, the SL would always be a person who crossed his section.
But then again, in an ideal world, a person who crossed his section would be the best player in the section, know all of his/her music backwards and forwards, play it flawlessly every time, kknow all the history of the band and section, be on time for every practice, meeting and performance, and be able to bring the crabs to the level of the upperclassmen. Of course, this rarely is the case LOL
If making it through the season and handling your business isn't enough, then your crabbing process sucks giant donkey balls. Tell your section oldheads I said it, whatever the school.
If you're doing enough stuff as a section to keep the crabs on their toes (music- and marching-wise), mixed with some things to make them think, then when the last game comes, any one of the new crabs should be able to hold the section down. The fact that people created a seperate pledging process apart from crabbing the band really messed up the focus of what our sections/bands are doing.
The person that can lead/teach the section the best and can hold their own on the horn should be the section leader. If your "process" creates a situation where that person isn't a part of the "section", you need to re-evaluate where your non-incorporated "frat" (smh/lol) is headed.
Dayum Cleve.....Donkey Balls? We gotta rank on farm animals now? Das cold!
And I'm with Cleve.
Sidebar: Spidey, I've heard of you through someone who marched right before you. THumbs up.
