HBCU Anti Hazing Campaign: It's Time

I KNOW that this is gonna go wrong with some....but it is time for each of us as HBCU bandsmen and former bandsmen to step up and start an anti hazing campaign. Sure, some of us went through this...went through that. It's time out for that...this hazing has to meet it's demise. Today....it's FAMU....tomorrow....who? Pledging.....discipline by force...no matter what you call it....in most cases it's still hazing. I ain't on here to make friends with this, but to those open minded and eager to make band a more productive and safer environment will see my purpose. Stepping out on faith as a minister and going for this.

  • Not a bad idea what so ever. im down for the cause! But not just for HBCU bands....hazing in general. almost like bullying.
  • That's my goal. My fiance' is a Zeta, and she too is down. I WANT IT TO START WITH THE BAND FIRST.....being that it is US in the news most for it....WE should spearhead this

  • Im down also!

former member and still to my heart MMW, T Phi B.

    and

    Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Incorporated.

    ALABAMA A&M UNIVERSITY!

  • Who WOULDN'T be down for this!?

  • You'd be surprised
  • and the surprise starts here, now its a great idea to stop it all together but at the same time, hazing is always more than just physical, hazing also could be running up the bleachers time after time, or passing egg yokes on a spoon from spoon to spoon using only your mouth. yes, what they did was horrible, and even worst, there have been times people get really hurt, but stopping hazing all together will not work. to be honest, ima go through it and the ones behind gonna feel it to

  • If you support it...I need ya'll to inbox ideas to me to get it going.

  • Until some step forward in the face of adversity and try and combat it.......our culture needs to be proactive and see the severity of this problem. After all, is that not what the Civil Rights Movement represented? Our people standing against problems that deeply affect us? Fact is......HBCU bands, THIS YEAR ALONE have been the target of negativity, centrally hazing. If WE show that we are making measures to combat it, then maybe....just maybe we can be successful in keeping these programs safe and prosperous. For now, it SEEMS like it won't disappear. It's a failure off top to accept it as a norm.....and I for one will not accept it.

  • but you tlk as though, hazing it self started in HBCU or it atleast only exsist only in HBCU. i agree that it is mostly focused on use but that doesnt mean that we are only to blame. look you wanna start a movement than you should think about it first b4 you just blab it to the world wat you doing. think about wat you need to do! make out a game plan and when it starts to flow perfectly in planning than put it in action!! this is redunded and posting wont make things go away........ takew the time and think about it until you go charging head 1st with out anything to say

  • You know history has proven what "they" do is what they do. Whatever "they" can use against us....they will. Why do we fuel their fire? Just as "they" see us: let them do what they do. We are better than that. Trust that I have put things in the works. I am with local churches and various organizations on campus. I am now reaching out to my peers in other HBCU band programs to see what ideas they have so that it can actually go somewhere. I believe we should network with each other to get stuff accomplished. I thought long and hard on this......I know I'm not alone tho...
