High School Field Shows

During the regular football season, how many field shows do you have..

Well Greenville Weston has several field shows

They have an all core field show...
They have an all traditional marching field show...
They have a battle of the band or college field show...


They have over 4 interchangeable field show, some of the field shows may contain some of the same songs, but might be a different drill or have a different intro or outro....

If they preform at a college, they will play the school fight song, or etc

Example there outro song at MVSU Homecoming was Devil's Gun...

Do other High Schools Do This or something similar to this!!

    Unfortunately, we only have one. For our entire season. Why? I have not a clue. I want to do at least something new for a pre-show (we play the star spangled banner and our fight song) but I don't know if anyone else want to do it and if they did, how would I ask my director?

    Depends how the season plays out. Usually we will do our UIL show from the start of the season until competiton. Then after we experiment with different drills, feature tunes, ballads and maybe 2 or 3 different dance routines. So its usually around 4 or 5 different shows.
    and to my personal opinion...a Drum Major entrence shouldn't be some ol rap tune. A powerful fanfare for an introduction would fit better time wise and show wise. and do two different style drills. For example...in you start in the endzone like most SWAC bands do...you'd want to do either 2step, 4step or 8step drill((8 step drills would probably require the fast break)) then when you do your midfield drill. Make it creative. Do a nice design of something or take the shape of something to show more of a personal style for your band...Most stick out one major style...and even copy most college drills. Ballads come in so many ways that some bands dont do them, Balleds are another way to show a creative style dril with a slow moving tempo to cause more of a dramtic feel in your show. Feature tunes are to be powerful, and aggressive to WOW the audience. and Dance Routines are optional depending on the overall style of the band which DR's can take any form. to a classical dance, to even a Waltz, then you have your high energy hiphop dance routines that are more of an entertainment purpose in a BOTB. an outro song in similar to a Featured song...it is supposed to WOW the audience as you exit the field.

    When I was in high school, we probably did 5-6 different shows. It depended on how many BOTBs and home games we had for the year.

    last season we played bout 13-14 games. We did bout 10 different shows.

    well Murrah has a different field show every game, plus competition, plus BOTB, and plus if any college invite us thats another different one..

    It really just depended on the amount of home games we had + MPA show (Music Performance Assesment some may call it FBA) and FL Classic BOTB show. Usually around 6 or 7 per year.

    We start the season with a show using current music, and then at homecoming we change to old school music and have a different drill. For individual games we'll change something, like the drum major intro or breakdown. But we always play our school's chant when we get on the field, and fight song coming off. Each show consists of a rap song for the drum major intro, our chant, one drill song with the flags, another song with the majorettes (the first few games we may or may not do a drill, depending on how well practice goes), we stand and play another while our danceline dances, a breakdown (snippets of 3 or 4 songs), and our fight song as we march off.

    When I was in high school we had like a few signature formations otherwise the shows were always fairly similar.for the remainder of the year. The difference is the Opening to the show and the ending..

    We don't do "Dance Routines" or "Drum Features" but the drum section sometimes did funk trains.

    Our band usually does 3-4. 1-2 "Normal" drills. Our rivalry game drill and our little block formation during senior night/homecoming. However, the drills usually lack a degree of difficulty and are fairly simple. Our county, Bibb County, doesn't allow us to attend BOTB's unless they're censor or have some education value.

    Oh, I forgot, if we go to the Atl Classics, we might do a pregame drill. For a change of pace.
